Why is this role important?
The Analytic Techniques and Tools (AT&T) department provides technical expertise in the development of advanced analytic tools and methods for use by health service delivery professionals and policy makers. The AT&T department also fosters alignment, collaboration and knowledge exchange across the organization in the area of advanced analytics tools and methodologies.

The Senior Analyst is responsible for leading technical and methodological support to analytical teams across CIHI in developing products using the R language; and fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange.

What you'll do
1. Provides expert support on the technical and methodological direction of products and services to support CIHI’s overall business strategy.

2. Supports CIHI analytical teams in developing and transitioning analytical products, using the R and/or Python programming languages.

3. Conducts data management activities including writing and updating statistical code required for the development, computation, analysis, and/or verification of key deliverables. This may include support for the release of data and information through private and public reporting tools, including leading the execution of test strategies / test cases to ensure accuracy of the reported results in adherence with CIHI’s corporate information quality framework.

4. Provides support on creating top-quality clean code and participates in peer-to-peer code review.

5. Leads and/or contributes to the development of materials for dissemination of findings and knowledge translation.

6. Shares knowledge and expertise across the organization; Provides knowledge sharing to CIHI staff related to advanced analytics, machine learning methods and data visualization.

7. Ensures that quality of products and activities meet CIHI standards (e.g. quality, privacy, security, ethics).

8. Ensures adherence to, and ability to demonstrate compliance with, CIHI’s privacy and security policies and procedures when using CIHI data and information.

What you'll bring to the table
• Undergraduate degree in Informatics, Data Science, Computing Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Biostatistics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

• Three to five years of experience in data analytical activities including data visualization, statistical analysis or data pipelines.

• Working experience with the R or Python programing languages to manipulate data and draw insights from large datasets. Working experience with SAS is an asset.

• Experience designing and building analytical solutions using good software engineering practices (e.g., code optimization, version control).

• Experience with coaching and mentoring in analytical techniques and R or Python programming skills.

• Familiarity with high performance computing is an asset.

• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team with minimal supervision.

• Proven organizational and time management skills, with an ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively to meet deadlines.

• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

• Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, including the ability to document findings and communicate complex ideas in simple terminology (both orally and in writing).

• Understanding of Canada's healthcare system is an asset.

• Ability to fulfill occasional travel.

• Fluency in English is required; bilingualism is an asset.
