The London Public Library is currently recruiting for a Casual Audio Visual Operator to join our team at the London Public Library.

Position Statement

Reporting to the Audio Visual Supervisor, Wolf Performance Hall & Space/Room Rental Services, the Audio Visual Operator is accountable for the provision of high quality media services delivered in the Wolf Performance Hall and at other Library locations as required. This position sets up audio visual equipment/technology and provides audio visual services support during program delivery by operating audio visual equipment and related computer hardware and software and responding to customers’ needs. The Audio Visual Operator ensures that all audio visual  services equipment is clean and secure. The position demonstrates leadership behaviours and actions consistent with London Public Library’s purpose statement, values and strategic goals.

 

Accountabilities

 

  1. Audio Visual Program Support
  • Sets up stage and readies equipment in preparation for the events / programs, including tables, chairs, props, lecture, cables, microphones, power, laptops, projects, overheads, speakers, lighting, cue recordings etc., using standard operating and safety procedures and / or direction provided by Audio Visual Supervisor.
  • Personally operates all media services equipment during events / programs. Handles live sound mixing, band set-ups, plays and other events that require sound and lighting cures.
  • Ensures all media equipment is functioning correctly. Performs routine troubleshooting of equipment, making minor repairs when able.
  • Reports major audio visual equipment/technology problems and customer comments / concerns to the Audio Visual Service Supervisor.
  • Acts as the technical contact at events / programs and ensures strong, positive working relationships are built with customers (performers and patrons) to ensure their satisfaction with Library services.
  • Provides just-in-time equipment training, if required, for internal and external customers.
  • Ensures strong, positive working relationships with contracted security, volunteer ushers and staff involved in events.
  • Ensures stage and booth are clean, items returned to storage at end of each event / program and all media services equipment is secured.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of a 2-year post secondary program or two-year community college equivalency with courses in audio visual equipment/technology set-up.
  • Proven experience in the operation of audio visual equipment and related computer hardware and software.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Availability to work evening and weekend hours and respond to call-in requests to work.
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to listen and find solutions to customer needs.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to build positive relationships with key stakeholders.

 

The Audio Visual Operator is a Casual as needed position with no guarantee of hours or days worked.

 

Band 3 - $21.671 per hour.
