ABOUT THE ROLE

 

In this position the Programs & Services Coordinator works on the Community Engagement team and will be reporting to the Interim Director, Programs & Services.

 

The Community Engagement team is responsible for the development and delivery of Parkinson Canada’s Programs and Services, and revenue generation through community peer to peer events and partnerships. The coordinator is responsible for contributing to the development, implementation and delivery of programs and community services that are accessible, equitable, and meets the needs of people affected by Parkinson’s. The Programs and Services Coordinator is skilled in program development and service delivery and demonstrates a passion for community engagement.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Programs & Community Services

  • Support ongoing support services and programs (support groups, Newly Diagnosed program, webinars, web app) with client feedback and key performance indicators to improve upon services.
  • Implement a new support services model that promotes greater reach and impact in the community with a digital-first lens that offers personalization and options for support that are equitable and accessible across Canada.
  • Ensure the voices of people affected by Parkinson’s are included in the development of all programs and services.
  • Contribute to ongoing program mapping and reviews based on the journey of a person with Parkinson’s and care partners to determine program gaps and priorities ensuring programs and services are responsive and relevant to the needs of people affected by Parkinson’s.
  • Based on client engagement and evaluation, improve all program initiatives to offer a high-value service that impacts more.
  • Lead discussions on community needs in terms of development of programming and services that accurately reflect the voice of Canadians living with Parkinson’s.
  • Contribute to the integration of programs and services across the CE teams to better serve our clients and impact more people affected by Parkinson’s.
  • Collaborate across Parkinson Canada departments and execute on programs and services with external partners to foster excellence, innovation, and impact in communities across Canada.

 

Regional Community Engagement

  • Promote and support Parkinson Canada fundraising events as needed (SuperWalk, HealthPartners, etc.)
  • Promote Parkinson Canada programs and initiatives in the region/community and connect regional needs with the appropriate Parkinson Canada team (Advocacy, Potential Partnerships, Research, etc.)
  • Promote and support Parkinson Canada partnerships as needed, regionally and nationally.
  • Liaise with Health Care Professionals as needed.
  • Connect potential volunteers to the appropriate Parkinson Canada volunteer opportunities.
  • Maintain information and communication with Parkinson’s relevant associations and coalitions.

 

 

  WHAT IS NEEDED TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE

  • University Degree or College Diploma in social services or community engagement, a background in education, event planning or volunteer management would be an asset.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience with volunteer management & event planning experience.
  • Knowledgeable with Support Groups programs and facilitation
  • Experience developing educational training and materials.
  • Experience working in dynamic teams in a fast-paced, active environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, events and initiatives while paying attention to deliverables.
  • Client-focused, proactive in engaging internal and external teams and partnerships to deliver new initiatives and projects.
  • Open to changing directions, adopting new practices or learning something new.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and an excellent understanding of the nature and complexity of Parkinson’s Disease.
  • Proficient computer skills: Office 365, database, etc.
