WHERE YOU COME IN

We are looking for a Manager, National Corporate Development to join our team at Make-A-Wish Canada. We are looking for a driven, energetic, and creative person who will be responsible for securing corporate commitments to support the mission. They will focus in the areas of significant corporate cash and gifts, in-kind product/services, sponsorships, corporate events, and cause marketing campaigns to grow the National Corporate Development portfolio.  They will also work closely with chapter offices in raising additional corporate revenue in the field and, where appropriate, grow regional partnerships into national opportunities for support. Further, our candidate must possess a strong mission motivation and a growth mindset.

This role is based out of Toronto and is a full-time, permanent, hybrid (2 days in-office per week) position.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Reporting to the Director, National Corporate Development, you will play an integral role in planning and implementing an impactful, growth-oriented corporate fundraising portfolio.
• Strategically manage a national corporate pipeline of $1,000,000 of existing and new business development, including cause marketing, sponsorship, employee engagement, in-kind donations, and corporate philanthropy.
• Contribute to closing and stewarding five to six figure sponsorship and cause marketing promotions in addition to corporate gifts.
• Collaborate and genuinely build relationships with regional development team members and other national foundation departments.
• Develop and write compelling funding proposals that are well-designed and meet brand guidelines.
• Work innovatively to design corporate partner activations that support a partner’s ability to communicate the importance of their partnership with Make-A-Wish Canada.
• Prepare and present pitches and proposals.
• Possess strong ambassadorial qualities. Our candidate will aptly act as a representative for the Foundation within the community and beyond.
• Utilizes strong administrative and computer skills to complete all administrative and data management tasks associated with fundraising on a timely basis. This includes using Salesforce to input and track donor activities.

WHAT YOU BRING

• 5 years of related experience, ideally in the corporate philanthropy sector or sales/marketing field.
• Post-secondary education in a related field and/or equivalent work experience.
• Possess a hunter mentality with a proven track record in prospecting, cultivating, engaging and retaining corporate partners.
• Solid track record of working with corporate partners in securing gifts of 50K+.
• Demonstrated experience in managing a prospect pipeline while implementing strategies to reach and surpass revenue goals.
• Work well under pressure of tight deadlines and can manage a high-volume workload with multiple demands and changing priorities.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills necessary for proposal writing, developing and delivering presentation skills and for managing daily interactions with staff and partners.
• Exhibit a strong degree of initiative, problem solving and decision-making skills.
• Competency in the ability to manage through ambiguity and changing priorities.
• Creative: ability to conceptualize new ideas and see a bigger picture or opportunities to increase support.
• Maintain outstanding time management skills and the ability to prioritize.
• Experience with CRM (ideally Salesforce) is a strong asset.
• A clear Criminal Background Check required.
• Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 at least 14 days prior to their first day of work, subject to relevant accommodations or exemptions.

YOUR WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Hybrid work environment with occasional requirements to work outside of regular office hours.
• Occasional day/overnight travel.
• Primary accountabilities are carried out in the National Office; however, our successful candidate may be required to attend meetings/events within the community. This position is required to work outside normal office hours to attend corporate events representing the Foundation.
