Scheduled Hours: Two week rotation with 42 hrs average work week Shifts are 12 hour with sleep shift hours included (8 hrs regular & 4 hrs sleep=12 hrs) Hours and rotation may be adjusted based on person served needs

The Program
344-32 The Herd (enhancement of supports)
This overnight program assists a person with developmental disabilities to remain in their family home by providing night-time relief to the primary care givers. Supports will be given in a private area of the home (basement suite) to help the client to maximize their independence and further develop their unique strengths.
The Position
During overnight hours the Overnight Community Disability Support Worker ensures a consistent, healthy and safe environment for the persons in care and are available to provide immediate support in crisis situations. In the event of an emergent situation sleep staff will be responsible/paid for awake responsibilities.
The front-line DSW sleeps at the client's residence and is available, if needed, to assist the client during overnight hours.
Bona Fide Occupational Requirement: This is a gender-specific position based upon the behavior and needs of the persons served.
In Your Role You Will
Hours and rotation may vary based on needs of the person served.
Typical overnight shift may include:
• 9:30pm -11pm (1.5 awake hrs) - assist/model nightly bed-time routine (personal hygiene, brushing teeth, etc.) ensuring a consistent, healthy and safe environment for persons in care.
• 11pm - 3am (4 sleep hrs)- You will be provided your own private bedroom, within the residence and sleep hours are paid at minimum wage $15/hr. In the event of an emergent situation, sleep staff will be responsible for awake responsibilities to provide immediate support in crisis situations.
• 3am - 9:30am (6.5 awake hrs) - awake supports until family care begins at 9:30am

As An Ideal Candidate You Possess
• Previous experience working with developmental disability or mental illness
• High School Diploma. Ideally, post secondary education in a related human services field
• MUST HAVE - Valid Class 5 Driver’s License; reliable vehicle, clean driver’s abstract and adequate insurance
• Skills in coaching/assisting individuals in life skills, anger management, daily chores, self help & problem solving, etc.
• Committed to philosophies and principles of community based living for individuals in service.
• Good computer skills - as all files are electronic
