Join our team as a Customized Employment Counsellor working at our offices in beautiful Ladner. This permanent full-time role has a starting wage of $24.48 per hour, plus benefits including participation in the Municipal Pension Plan.

About the Opportunity

The Customized Employment Counsellor is responsible for building lasting relationships with local employers and developing and structuring relevant and meaningful options based on the needs and preferences of the client. This role works collaboratively with the WorkBC Client Services Team and Solutions Employment Services to support clients towards a successful job attachment outcome.

 

As a full-time Customized Employment Counsellor, you will be actively supporting individuals with developmental disabilities obtain employment. You will be responsible for:  

  • Assisting clients with resume building and distribution,
  • Marketing our services and building relationships with potential employers to support employment,
  • Developing personal networks and social capital by attending community events,    
  • Facilitating on-the-job coaching and relaying feedback from employers,
  • Obtaining knowledge of Community Resources required to facilitate opportunities,
  • Submitting proposals and creative problem solving, and
  • Administrative tasks including maintaining records.

The typical hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM. This role requires flexibility including early mornings, evenings, and weekends based on program and client needs.

 

Ideal Candidate Will Possess:

The ideal candidate will have experience working with people with developmental disabilities, and experience in Marketing and Supported Employment. Career Development Practitioner Certificate is an assent. The successful candidate must posses a valid Class 5 Driver’s License and a clean driving record, and have access to a personal vehicle. A degree in related filed is an asset. Digital competency including Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new software is required. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and being a team player are essential.
