Background
Founded in 2019, La Cabane is a charitable organisation offering a creative family space in the Rosemont / Petite-Patrie neighbourhood of Montreal. Our mission: to enable children and youth to learn by leading meaningful lives, surrounded by their families and community.
To support this mission, La Cabane anchors its activities in three pillars: the development of healthy lifestyle habits (through conscious movement, gardening and culinary arts), active citizenship, and artistic expression.
Since 2020, La Cabane has been offering the "Defi program" to home-schooled families from Tuesday to Thursday. Following a community consultation process called "Explorathon", the children and La Cabane's team select three “challenges” for the year, representing an issue or opportunity in the community. Guided by a process similar to design thinking, the children interview members of their community, brainstorm solutions, create prototypes and implement real solutions to contribute towards their community's issue. Our work is strongly influenced by non-violent communication, restorative justice practices, healing/trauma-informed practices, and social emotional learning.
After moving into our new 6,000 square foot space in May 2022, La Cabane also now opens its doors to families in the Greater Montreal area on Saturdays and Sundays, offering workshops and a café for families to learn and connect.
We are searching for our next extraordinary leader who possesses the qualities of an experienced executive director, and who is a bon vivant, able to navigate the exciting new waters of start-up projects. In our highly creative environment, we rely on your organisational skills and contagious motivation to guide our team through its next phase of growth. We have recently been granted charitable status and are looking for a new leader to develop our philanthropic strategy while working with the Board of Directors to secure multi-year core funding from the government.
We aim to find a leader who will embody our values: Respect, Inclusion, Love, Courage, Solution, Celebration and Play. At La Cabane, we think big, and anything is possible, especially if it's an idea that comes from a child!
