People, Engagement & Learning Recruitment Specialist – Full Time, Permanent

Located in Vancouver or Toronto, with remote possible

MakeWay builds partnerships and solutions to help nature and communities thrive together. We are made up of two legal charitable entities: MakeWay Charitable Society, a shared platform home to over 65+ innovative community-led projects staffed by 170+ change makers; and MakeWay Foundation where about 75 people are advancing place-based programs that support Indigenous-led solutions and conservation in the North, Pacific, Manitoba, and beyond via grant-making, funder collaboratives and other tools.  Our people, projects, and partners are based across the country.

 

We are looking for a new team member who will be responsible for providing full-cycle recruitment support at MakeWay. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who has a passion for providing phenomenal experience for candidates in their journey to MakeWay and to support our hiring managers with their growing teams. You have a deep understanding and commitment to Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in recruitment practices. The Recruiter will become a go-to partner for hiring managers to support with their hiring needs. The People, Engagement and Learning Recruiter reports to the People, Engagement and Learning Manager and is an integral part of the People, Engagement and Learning team.

What You’ll Do:

  • Work collaboratively with hiring managers to determine role requirements, job descriptions, and sourcing strategies
  • Provide full cycle recruitment services including drafting job descriptions and postings, communicating with candidates, scheduling interviews, sourcing, screening resumes, interviewing, reference checks, making offers, and working with PEL team for onboarding requirements
  • Provides guidance on recruitment related matters in accordance with MakeWay values and processes
  • Creatively sources candidates and participates in in-person or virtual career fairs and recruitment events and other channels on behalf of MakeWay to increase the outreach and attraction of candidates
  • Participates in process improvements and lead in designing and implementing a hiring process to reflect broader hiring equity strategies
  • Effectively manages recruitment processes in a timely manner and provides frequent updates to hiring managers and feedback and report backs to the PEL team
  • Maintains a pulse on recruitment trends and uses appropriate channels to source qualified candidates, continually evaluates and suggests new methods of sourcing
  • Performs other duties as required

  • Professional: You are able to maintain strict standards of confidentiality, awareness, and sensitivity throughout

Experience You Bring:

  • Alignment with the values of MakeWay
  • A deep understanding of DEI principles in recruitment
  • Experience with all aspects of full cycle recruitment ideally within a national organization
  • Experience in the charitable/non-profit sector
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Office Suite

It Would be a Bonus if You Have:

  • Background in HR or CPHR designation
  • Experience working with an Applicant Tracking System
