CHILD AND YOUTH OUTREACH CASE MANAGER, OUTREACH SERVICES (1.0 FTE)

The Child and Youth Outreach Case Manager will work to provide a safe and supportive environment for children to engage in activities that reduce the impact of family violence and build social competence and emotional well-being. In this role, you will engage systems (e.g., school, family, community & peer groups) to promote safety and wellness for children living in the community. You have passion and energy for working with children and youth to change lives. You have a hope filled approach along with strong people skills and knowledge to support families during challenging and stressful times. Creating engaging experiences and interactions is a challenge you’re up for. You can easily build rapport with parents, partner organizations and colleagues which is also an element that rounds you out.

This is a temporary full-time 12 months position working 37.5 hours per week. This schedule works Monday – Friday and every other Saturday.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
• Deliver services and support to children and youth who are experiencing family crisis
• Support children and youth living in the community as well as supporting families moving from the shelter into the community
• Provide crisis intervention, assessment and planning and assist children and youth to develop safety plans
• Provide and develop targeted intervention activities including relationship building, parenting support and child/youth-focused intensive outreach support
• Support the transition of children and youth from shelter into the community
• Provide appropriate referrals to internal and external programs for long-term intervention, support, and counseling
• Collaborate with community agencies regarding the child’s needs and advocate when appropriate
• Partner with schools and other resources to provide holistic support
• Accurately record program information on time, meeting program records management standards
• Remain current and continuously update professional skills and referral knowledge

WHAT YOU’LL BRING
• Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent in human service field
• Minimum 3 years’ experience working in the field of violence against women and working with youth and children
• Experience working with an Outreach based program an asset
• Have a knowledge of trauma sensitive principles and practices
• Have a working knowledge of the causes and consequences of domestic abuse and the impacts on children
• Demonstrate strong client centered support skills, creative problem-solving skills, and excellent communication skills
• Ability to build trusting, healthy, and functional professional relationships
• Good organizational and assessment skills and ability to prioritize
• Strong computer literacy including MS Office Suite, ability to learn additional software quickly and effectively
• Ability to drive and must provide own licensed vehicle and proper insurance for work use. Valid Class 5 driver’s license
• A clear Police Information Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Search, and an Intervention Record Check is required upon commencement of employment
