Role Overview:

The Digital Events Specialist will lead the digital fundraising activities of Lace Up to End Diabetes, My Diabetes Fundraiser and a new national program working collaboratively across the organization to ensure an integrated approach is applied. Key areas of focus will include website development, fundraising app implementation, digital content development, project coordination and ongoing monitoring of results.

The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing creative online fundraising and marketing initiatives. With an eye for good design and superior project management skills, the successful candidate will have online fundraising, web marketing, design and implementation experience and will be able to quickly make their mark on our ability to engage and grow our online community. The Specialist will report into the Director, Signature & Third Party Events and provide direction, support, and guidance to the Community Fundraising & Events (CFE) team.

Location: 

1300-522 University Avenue, Toronto, Ontario. Flexible work agreement policy in place allowing employees to work on a hybrid schedule, working remotely with the expectation of being in-office as needed.

Contract Length: This role is a 13-month contract.

This role includes, but not limited to:

Website and Fundraising App Lead

  • Lead the website and fundraising app development project including configuration, content, testing, user experience and reporting.
  • Lead the peer-to-peer email communications development, including instituting best practices, participant milestones, gamification, pre-post event invitations, and automation
  • Maintain day to day relationships with internal partners, vendors, technology providers and agencies to assist in the implementation of online fundraising campaigns. 

Digital Content Development

  • In consultation with the wider team including enablers such as marketing and communications to, schedule, edit, design, target and coordinate online communications
  • Develop strategies to grow Diabetes Canada online community through passive (e.g. website sign-up, app downloads) and active (e.g. targeted campaigns) acquisition campaigns.
  • Identify participant stories for social media and marketing campaigns
  • Conduct A/B testing on campaigns to refine knowledge and improve results.

Constituent Engagement

  • Implement stewardship strategies that facilitate the engagement of the community in activities that contribute to higher retention rates and increased levels of public participation.
  • Monitor the Support inbox, while troubleshooting participant questions and support needs
  • Support and cultivate relationships with event participants agency, partners, volunteers and stakeholders

Project Coordination & Operations

  • Maintain and implement event communication calendars in collaboration with digital, and communications teams
  • Support the Manager, Signature & 3rd Party Events in analyzing online fundraising key performance indicators and recommending changes in strategy to generate more revenue.
  • Support vendor selection process through identification of requirements, development of RFP’s and selection process as required.
  • Update and maintain database management system for event participants and donors to ensure data integrity
  • Complete special projects as assigned and partner with national departments when applicable to ensure the success of the project.

The ideal candidate possesses:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or relevant experience 2-3 years of experience supporting online fundraising programs
  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Canva and Microsoft Office applications
  • Database management, digital marketing and email marketing experience preferred
  • HTML coding experience a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written skills with a talent for expressing complex ideas in simple and effective language
  • Creative and able to produce engaging written and visual communications
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to assess, prioritize and manage a varied and demanding workload
