Purpose: As part of the Operation Ukrainian Safe Haven team, the Data Analyst will play a critical role in analyzing and interpreting data related to Ukrainians who are interested in relocating to Canada. The successful candidate will establish robust data administration policies and ensure that data is readily accessible to both internal and external stakeholders.
The Data Analyst will utilize their expertise in data visualization to develop engaging and informative materials that effectively communicate key findings and insights to various audiences. These insights will be used to inform policy decisions, and the Data Analyst will work closely with the rest of the team to ensure that their findings are utilized in the most effective way possible.
Reports to: Project Director for Operation Ukrainian Safe Haven
Hours & location: 35 hours per week - work from AMSSA's office located at 4445 Norfolk Street, Burnaby B.C. Work from home 2 days a week.
Salary: $35.00/hour
Classification: Full-Time Contract; March 2023 - March 31, 2024; subject to extension based on funding.

Operation Ukrainian Safe Haven is a national and coordinated communications initiative to bridge and link communications and resources with key stakeholders involved in supporting Ukrainians coming to Canada. A national sector secretariat was established to focus on national communication objectives, including referrals for housing offers, donations, volunteers, jobs, and other resources and communications from provinces and territories.


  • Develop and maintain bilingual visualizations by analyzing and interpreting both quantitative and qualitative data
  • Collaborate with different donors to demonstrate the impact of their donations to relevant stakeholders including utilizing data visualization techniques and creating reports
  • Analyze complex datasets and report important findings such as Census data
  • Interpret data, and analyze results using statistical techniques
  • Develop and submit ongoing reports and support with funder narrative reporting
  • Develop and implement a system to share data nationally with relevant stakeholders
  • Maintain databases, develop data transmission protocols, and ensure data security
  • Locate and define new process improvement opportunities
  • Craft compelling data narratives and visualizations
  • Develop communications and social media content based on data
  • Manage and update the content on a bilingual website
  • Respond to inquiries and requests for information from stakeholders in a timely manner
  • Develop resources with information to support secretariat members and key stakeholders
  • Develop infographics, publications, shareable images and other graphics as required
  • Other duties as required


  • 2-5 years of experience in data collection, analysis, utilization, and visualization, or in a similar role as a Data Analyst
  • Advanced computer skills and be highly proficient in using Microsoft Office(Teams, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint), particularly Excel, including advanced functions like VLOOKUP and PivotTables
  • Proficiency with using data visualization software such as Tableau
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize and analyze significant amounts of information
  • Experience in Survey tools, such as Qualtrics, Hosted In Canada;
  • Responsive in a dynamic work environment with shifting priorities and short deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and able to work on teams cross-functionally
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to problem-solve with a track record of producing results
  • Exceptional time management skills
  • Ability to present complex information in a simplified way to various audiences
  • Knowledge of cloud-based electronic filing through Dropbox, Google Drive and One Drive
  • Knowledge of current technological online meeting platforms: Zoom, MS Teams
  • Bilingual in English and French is an asset
  • Post-secondary undergraduate degree or diploma in a relevant discipline is an asset
