The Alberta Association of Immigrant Serving Agencies (AAISA) is seeking proposals from qualified consultants to support the mid-term review of AAISA’s current 2020-2025 Strategic Plan. The successful proponent will:

  • Facilitate a full-day session with the AAISA Board of Directors and lead the mid-term review of the Strategic Plan, as well as
  • Develop a report outlining the activities and outcomes of the session.


The Alberta Association of Immigrant Serving Agencies (AAISA) is a non-profit umbrella organization that represents and supports agencies that provide resettlement, settlement, and integration services to newcomers in the province of Alberta. Since 1980, we have been working to build the sector’s capacity to better serve newcomers by fostering collaboration, professionalization, and member-driven research and policy-work.

The consultant will work with AAISA’s Board of Directors and Executive Director to review the Strategic Plan for AAISA’s work during the years 2020–2025, assess progress against benchmarks, and develop any needed revisions and amendments.

The consultant will facilitate and guide all steps of the process, including a full-day session for the Board of Directors and Executive Director. The consultant will provide regular status reports to AAISA’s Governance and Risk Management Committee during the project.


  1. Review AAISA’s strategic priorities at current stage
  2. Understand scope of AAISA’s work contracted by our funders
  3. Review the current Strategic Plan as well as mission statement and vision.
  4. Facilitate a needs assessment and relevant environmental scan.
  5. Develop and disseminate a short survey to gather and coordinate stakeholder/member input.
  6. Board Session

Facilitate a full-day session with nine (9) AAISA’s Board of Directors, three (3) management team members, and selected stakeholders. The goal of the session will be to review the Strategic Plan for AAISA’s work during the years 2020 – 2025, assess progress against benchmarks, and develop any needed revisions and amendments.

  • Review & Edit AAISA Strategic Plan 2020-2025

Based on phases I & II:

  1. Report on mid-term progress on current Strategic Plan; and
  2. Develop any amendments/adjustments going forward for 2023-2025

The Report will be presented to AAISA’s Governance Committee.


Phase I:              June 15, 2023

Phase II:             June 22, 2023

Phase III:           July 27, 2023


(Fees for this project is expected to be in the range of $4000 to $6000)


  1. AAISA shall own all intellectual property and/or confidential information that the Consultant creates, generates, or develops, as the case may be, because of performing the services provided for hereunder. Where necessary, and at the request of AAISA, the Consultant shall execute and deliver such documents as may be necessary to transfer ownership of any such intellectual property and/or confidential information to AAISA.
  2. The Consultant shall keep confidential and use in strict confidence and only for the purposes of performing the services hereunder, the following:

(i) all information related to agreements, arrangements, and contracts it has entered with AAISA (unless authorized in writing by AAISA to disclose said information); and (ii) all confidential information or proprietary information acquired or learned through its dealings with AAISA.



Qualified individuals shall submit with their proposal:

  • Portfolio with examples of similar projects.
  • Detailed plan and a preliminary project timeline, including milestones.
  • Summary of knowledge of the settlement & integration, governance, and/or non-profit sector.
  • Names of individuals who will be involved on the project team, their role, and their credentials.
  • Proposed Consultant fees and reimbursable costs.
  • A minimum of two client references, with one from the corporate sector (if applicable).

The proposal will be reviewed in detail according to the above criteria. Short-listed individuals may be requested to participate in an interview.

Both individual and collaborative proposals will be considered.
