St. Leonard’s Community Services offers a continuum of social housing services to meet client needs ranging from homelessness to independent living.  As part of the continuum, Station House and Cornerstone House support formerly homeless clients in preparing for semi and independent living by providing emergency, short- and long-term accommodation.

Cornerstone House offers two separate programs within its physical space including a 10-bed shelter space and a 12-bed transitional housing residence for both males and females between the ages of 18-29 years of age. Cornerstone House works with individuals who are precariously housed or at risk of homelessness and provides them with a safe place to stay, help and support with counselling and life skills coaching to support transition towards independent living.

As the Supervisor for Cornerstone House program, you will:

  • Supervise staff, participate in the recruiting process for program staff and provide guidance in staff performance management
  • Develop and evaluate program activities and client groups
  • Assist with the development and implementation of the departmental work plan
  • Facilitate department and sector case management meetings
  • Distribute and document resident funds and recreational funds; collect record and provide receipts for client savings
  • Conduct intake and assessments through case management
  • Provide support counselling and life skills training to clients and monitor their progress towards independence

Hours of work: Must be flexible for day, afternoon, and weekend shifts

Training: Initial comprehensive training related to all aspects of the role, as well as access to ongoing professional development

A note about COVID-19:  Our Agency is committed to the safety of staff.   • Have a college diploma in the Human/Social Services field
  • Have a minimum of 2 years’ combined student placement and/or paid experience working with individuals with substance use, mental health and concurrent disorders and/or homeless individuals
  • Proficient in MS Office and be familiar with databases
  • Have access to reliable transportation
  • Able to manage occasional exposure to vicarious traumatic stress
  • Able to make regular visits to uncontrolled environments, such as client homes and public meeting locations. This may include exposure to smoking environments.
  • Proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 (minimum 3 doses)
