About CASA

 

CASA Mental Health is an established non-profit organization delivering holistic, culturally-safe wrap-around mental health services to Albertans and their families. CASA provides mental health service to the missing middle – mental health treatment for diagnosed children and youth, in between prevention and promotion in primary and community care, and acute treatment in hospital.

CASA’s team of mental health professionals are trauma experts committed to delivering service in collaboration with community partners. This includes assessment and treatment for up to 4,000 children, youth and their families each year, from community outreach settings to intensive treatment programs.

 

About the Role

 

Reporting to the Clinical Manager and working with the Nursing Professional Practice Lead, the Mental Health Nurse works collaboratively within an inter-professional team to provide and coordinate services for children, youth and families receiving care from CASA.

The Mental Health Nurse will:

  • Provide nursing assessments and plans of care.
  • Practice according to the code of ethics and practice standards of their specific professional college.
  • Assist with individual or group therapy.
  • Coordinate with other professionals to promote continuity of care.
  • Identify service delivery improvements and suggest enhancements.
  • Maintain patient electronic health records in a complete and timely way.
  • Work collaboratively with the research department to assist with critical appraisal, evaluation and knowledge transfer.
  • Contribute to program and clinical team meetings.

Union: In-scope

Status: Permanent, temporary, part time, and full time.

Location: CASA Centre/Fort Road/CASA West/CASA House

Registered Nurse / Registered Psychiatric Nurse: Minimum: $38.43 Maximum: $50.59

Licensed Practical Nurse: Minimum: $29.31 Maximum: $36.46

Qualifications Include:

  • Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
  • Member in good standing with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta, College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta or College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
  • If relocating to Alberta, must be eligible to obtain membership in Alberta with your respective college

Conditions of Employment

  • A satisfactory Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search. This would be the financial responsibility of the successful candidate.
  • A satisfactory Child Intervention Check.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination or exemption on the basis of a protected legal ground.
  • Ability to pass and maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification (training provided by CASA), as well as physical ability to perform all interventions.
