Job Responsibilities    

The Counselling Program requires a part-time (28-hours/week) VAW Clinical Counsellor to work with Senior women who have experienced, or are experiencing, abuse in the Region of Peel.  The successful candidate will be responsible for providing individual counselling, advocacy, and support as well as participating in community initiatives, community outreach activities, case work services, and other relevant duties as assigned, for team or Agency.  The position may necessitate working at other locations within Peel. 


Key Qualifications

  • Masters level degree in a relevant field
  • Current and ongoing membership in good standing in a recognized accrediting body
  • Minimum of five (5) years of demonstrated clinical experience in a variety of modalities
  • Strong background in domestic violence
  • Expertise working with Seniors
  • Experience engaging and working with the various diverse Peel communities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Superior written and oral command of the English language
  • Additional language(s) an asset
  • A valid Ontario driver’s licence and regular access to a reliable vehicle
  • Must provide vulnerable sector police check
  • As there may be a remote component to this job, the ability to work from home consisting of a safe and private home office setting and the necessary technical equipment and high-speed Internet access for remote work
  • Familiarity with virtual work platforms
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships
  • Actively participate in team meetings and provide input and ideas for improving services
  • Contribute to team assignments and projects
  • Maintain confidentiality for all matters related to Agency work in accordance with relevant Agency policies and procedures
  • Participate in orientation and training of placement students
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned, for team or Agency
  • Strong communication skills, including presentations
  • Computer proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and data bases
  • Demonstrated efforts to continuously update skills
  • Ability to work day, evening and rotating Saturday hours
  • Flexibility to work at a variety of locations throughout Peel region
