The Position:

 

In support of our Vision, Mission, and Values of LutherCare Communities, we are seeking an energetic, professional and organized administrative assistant to join our team. This Position is responsible for providing administrative support to our Home Help, and Group Home departments and the day-to-day courteous communication between clients, visitors, and others. Reporting to the Group Home General Manager and Home Help Manager this position will be responsible for administration, basic accounting, invoicing, and answering phones.

The Applicants:

 

Applicants would typically qualify for this position through the completion of a recognized administrative assistant course and at least 2 years experience in a secretarial/administrative capacity.  Applicants must have knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, and accounting programs.  The successful applicant will be able to work independently, foster excellent interpersonal skills and be able to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions. Working with the aging population and adults with cognitive and/or physical disabilities is considered an asset.               

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Exceptional planning, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Expert written and verbal communication skills including excellent proficiency in editing material for clarity, accuracy, and conciseness.
  • Ability to work collegially, collaboratively and build positive relationships through respectful and professional interactions.
  • Ability to learn and develop a working knowledge of the organization, including its governance and organizational structure and relationships.
  • Excellent computer skills, with a good working knowledge of various programs, including but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Exchange, Publisher, Schedule Plus, Access, MS Teams, Visio, Intranet/Internet, and the capability to learn new programs as required.
  • Demonstrated approaches to problem-solving with strong decision-making capability.
  • Knowledge and experience in minute taking and synthesizing information.
  • Knowledge and experience with the Residential Tenancy Act and Regulations
  • Be self-directed, and confident in applying independent judgment.
  • Ability to anticipate needs, think critically and offer solutions to problems.
  • Possess a high degree of initiative, ingenuity, including the ability to work with little, and/or no, supervision.
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality including handling confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to adapt to frequent change and work under pressure.
