Job Summary:
Under the direction of the of the Manager, the Advocate is responsible for the provision of formal advocacy services to members with mental illness in order to facilitate the acquisition of benefits and other societal resources. Represents clients as a formal advocate in settings such as the justice system, hospitals, the community and at administrative hearings by performing duties such as speaking on their behalf at meetings and hearings. Supports and assists clients with resolving problems by researching and interpreting relevant legislation and policies and preparing documents including reconsideration, tribunal and dispute resolution submissions.
