The Role

Reporting to Supervisor, Medical Services, the Registered Veterinary Technologist provides care directly related to the health of animals in-care. The position provides an exciting opportunity to make a difference in the lives of animals in need.

 

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Surgical Preparation- High-Quality, High-Volume surgical preparation and monitoring
  • Administration- Daily Medication administration and care of hospitalized patients
  • Laboratory work-up -Laboratory and Diagnostic work-up including in-house radiology, hematology/chemistry/fecal and urinalysis
  • Treatment- Entry Examinations of all animals entering into care
  • Foster Support-Foster animal care and foster family support
  • Adoption Process- Providing Education for clients/adopters on animal health and care as required for animals being adopted that may require a higher level of care post adoption or has needs specific to a health concern or surgery performed
  • Animal Care - Assist veterinarians in care of animals requiring further care (diagnostic work ups, implementing veterinary treatment plans, follow-up treatments)

Education and Requirements

  • Accredited Animal Health Technology Diploma
  • Yearly ABMVA license renewal
  • 15 credits of continuing education yearly
