Job Summary:

Provide support and direct care to children, encouraging their intellectual, physical and emotional growth in a quality Early Childhood program.

 

Your Role:

Archway’s On-Call Childcare Worker for the Multicultural Programs contributes by:

  • Working with an Early Childhood team facilitating developmentally appropriate activities and experiences for children.
  • Following program schedules which may include indoor/outdoor, active/quiet and individual and group a
  • Attending to the children’s physical needs which may include toileting, feeding, sleeping, etc.
  • Attending to children’s psychological and emotional needs which may include cuddling, rocking, holding infants and children.
  • Providing a caring, nurturing environment.
  • Ensuring a healthy and safe environment. Administering First Aid when necessary. Observing and removing potential hazards. 
  • Following childcare licensing requirements.

OUR OFFER:

  • Wage: $20 per hour.
  • A permanent, on-call position
  • As an on-call Childcare Worker, the Program operates from Mondays to Fridays, from 8:30 AM to 9:00 PM as some programs run evening workshops. Therefore, you will need to coordinate your availability with the Supervisor, around this schedule.

Getting an Interview – You will be considered if you have:

 

  • Early Childhood Education Assistant Training OR 20 Hour Responsible Adult Training OR Family Childcare Certification through the ECE Registry.
  • Early Childhood certification or license to practice is an asset.
  • Experience working with immigrant children and awareness of settlement issues.
  • Knowledge of age-appropriate childcare facilitation techniques.

 

THE JOB REQUIRES YOU TO HAVE:

  • Ability and comfort talking to children and their parents.
  • Well-developed oral and interpersonal and communication skills, including working with children and families from diverse backgrounds.
  • Good organization, time and general management skills.
  • A satisfactory Criminal Records Check is a condition of employment.
  • A Current First Aid Certification is a condition of employment.
