Post- Secondary Coordinator

We are seeking an individual who is flexible, ministry-minded and passionate about journeying with youth and young adults to join our frontline team in coordinating our Post-Secondary Program. Young adults are supported through the transition from teen years into adulthood and are empowered through practical and emotional support to pursue education, job training, meaningful employment and greater life stability. Our team is committed to partnering with each youth and young adult in achieving their individualized education, employment and/or life skill plan. The Post Secondary Coordinator maintains relationships with 12-15 program participants as a mentor, confidant, and role model.

 

The successful applicant must be self-motivated, both relational and administrative, with strong leadership skills and a passion for seeing vulnerable young people pursue their goals and make impact their community.  

 

Start Date: early-mid August (exact date negotiable)

Length: Maternity Leave

Hours: 40 hours per week; some evenings and weekends required.

Remuneration: $23/hour; health benefit plan & work laptop and cell phone provided 

Supervisor: Director of Programs


Position Requirements:

  • Supportive of Inner Hope’s Statement of Faith
  • Passionate about Inner Hope’s Vision, Mission and Values
  • Willingness to adhere to IHYM’s Code of Ethics and all staff policies
  • Minimum two years of post-secondary education in a related field
  • Minimum two years’ experience working with youth/young adults impacted by adverse childhood experiences and/or intergenerational trauma
  • Knowledge and understanding of Canada’s history with the Indigenous community and the current impacts of intergeneration trauma
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Relationally minded and able to engage positively with youth, young adults and their families
  • Experience working in a Christian ministry setting is an asset
  • Acceptable current criminal record check
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinate all aspects of the Post-Secondary Program
    1. Oversee participant recruitment and intake
    2. Coordinate and facilitate events for participants
    3. Develop/revise resource material as needed
    4. Partner with and supervise volunteers
  2. Case Management
    1. Manage relationships with 12-15 young adult participants as a mentor, confidant, and role model
    2. Facilitate development of individualized education, employment and/or life skill plans, and conduct one-on-one monthly check-ins
    3. Provide regular coaching sessions and support with goal attainment (ie. rides, attending appointments, application/funding support, system navigation etc.)
    4. When needed, provide crisis intervention and support, with support from frontline team
    5. Support family members of program participants and other core participants as time allows (ie. moving, meals, rides, crisis intervention)
  3. Network with community agencies
  4. Maintain records
    1. Document participant progress
    2. Deliver monthly program and financial reports
    3. Manage program budget
    4. Complete program stats and reports for funders
  5. Partner with Inner Hope Youth Ministries’ Staff team
    1. Attend weekly staff meetings and one-on-one meetings with supervisor
    2. Collaborate with frontline team and support staff team in hosting community life events
    3. Be an ambassador for Inner Hope
