Organization overview:  The Society is a non-profit early learning and care program that provides care to children ages 19 months to 6 years of age.  The programs are all-inclusive.  The Centre offers high quality child care as well as an in-house kindergarten program that is approved by Alberta Education.

 

Position summary:

The Early Childhood Assistant (ECA) will be assigned to a cohort of children where during their daily experiences they will be responsible for helping to plan and carry out age-appropriate experiences,  caring for the children, and providing the children  guidance. They will be responsible for maintaining daily communication with families and centre paperwork. ECPA will be active part of the room team where they will build relationships and collaborate with the permanent Early Childhood team.

The ECA is responsible to meet the physical, emotional and social needs of a group of individual children ranging in age from 19 months to 6 years.  The ECA will help to implement appropriate programs that will support the developmental needs the children, considering the families' needs and the Centre’s policies and procedures.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Hold valid Child Care Certification 
  • Have a Diploma in Early Childhood or related field or doing course work towards a diploma.
  • Hold a valid First Aid Certificate in Child Care.
  • Obtain a Police Security Clearance Check and a Child Intervention Check.

 

          Responsibilities:

    • Learn and participate in the day-to-day operations of an early childhood program
    • Interacting with an assigned cohort of children during their daily experiences, caring for them and providing them guidance
    • As an Educator of a group of mighty learners the CSJ employee will have many opportunities to build relationships and collaborate with the permanent Early Childhood team
    • Working cooperatively with the Early Childhood Educators to maintain the children’s and centre’s records
    • Contributing ideas, resources and participate within the centre’s team to plan and carry out the programming that allows the children to be mighty learners.
    • To be a co-participant with the Early Childhood Educator to incorporate the FLIGHT curriculum into the program and to provide responsive care in a flourishing environment.
    • Being a co-researcher with the children to enhance the development of programming around their interests.
    • Maintaining daily communication with staff and parents.
    • Demonstrating a commitment to their own learning and growth for future responsibly
    • Planning and providing off-site excursions
