Project Officer
Hike Nova Scotia

Job Description / Responsibilities

The work of the Project Officer mainly focuses on supporting the work of Hike NS and its various projects, helping to increase our capacity to offer our Guided Hike & Walk series, outdoor education courses, the Hiker Challenge, the Trail Builders Network and fundraising.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Trail Corps Coordinator will assist in carry out the following tasks:

Planning, coordination and promotion of the Fall Guided Hike & Walk Series
Planning of outdoor courses
Planning of an online auction
Administration of the Hiker Challenge
Carrying out of Trail Builders Network activities
Hike NS general administration
Perform other related duties as assigned
Support the overall work of Hike NS

Skill / Qualification Requirements

The successful candidate must be:

Between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive);
A Canadian citizen, permanent resident or protected person as defined by the Refugee Protection Act;
Legally entitled to work in Canada;
Legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial jurisdiction’s legislation and regulations;
Someone who self-identifies as: youth living in rural or remote locations, Indigenous youth, LGBTQ2+ youth, visible minorities (youth), youth with disabilities, youth who are new Canadians, language minorities, etc.
Must live in Nova Scotia

Working Conditions

The Coordinator will be required to work remotely from their own home office (require their own basic remote office equipment and technology). Must attend regular in-person meetings with co-workers as well as meet with partners. Must be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends. Must have a valid drivers license.
