Ottawa Riverkeeper is seeking an experienced Fundraising Manager to join our team.

  • Start Date: July 3 or later
  • Salary range: $65,000-$72,000
  • Hours: 37.5hrs/week (permanent)

What you will do

As Fundraising Manager, you will serve as a key member of the Ottawa Riverkeeper fundraising team and will play a vital role in increasing our capacity to steward a growing community of donors. This will include:

  • Helping to develop and oversee the implementation of our annual fundraising plan.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with community stakeholders, donors, and funding partners.
  • Leading the writing and development of regular donor communications, including appeals, thank you letters, impact reporting, and other forms of stewardship.
  • Leading the planning and execution of fundraising events, such as our annual Gala and peer-to-peer fundraisers.
  • Overseeing our grant writing portfolio, including maintaining a grant opportunities list, preparing grant applications, budgets, grant reports, and maintaining relationships with grant-making agencies. 
  • Researching funding opportunities and remaining informed of funding needs and program activities.
  • Strategically making use of Ottawa Riverkeeper’s CRM (Salesforce) to monitor and report on progress, as well as customize various documents such as thank you letters, funding proposals, impact reports, and gift agreements.
  • Implementing and monitoring policies, procedures, and standards for fundraising and donor relations, including privacy legislation, information management, and donor recognition. 
  • Overseeing the provision of charitable tax receipts to all qualified donors and ensuring compliance with federal regulations.

What you bring

You have a genuine interest in and support for our cause and a passion for environmental issues. For success in the role, you also have:

  • 7 years of experience in fundraising (CFRE an asset)
  • 3 years of management experience
  • A demonstrated knowledge of fundraising concepts, methodologies and best practices 
  • A proven track record of securing grants from foundations, corporations and government at the $25,000 level and above
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills (oral and written)
  • Strong financial management and budgeting skills
  • Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office, Google Workspace)
  • Motivation and creativity with a strong work ethic, professional integrity, and teamwork
  • Flexibility to work some evenings/weekends as required

Other valued skills:

  • Bilingualism in English/French is an asset
  • Proficiency with donor CRMs; Salesforce experience is an asset
