The Canadian Media Producers Association is Canada’s industry association for independent producers. We represent hundreds of Canadian companies engaged in the development, production and distribution of English-language TV programming, movies and digital media content. The CMPA works with producer-members to further strengthen the media production sector in Canada, and to ensure a bright future for content made by Canadians.
The CMPA is currently seeking a Coordinator, Business Affairs and Policy to join our Toronto Office. This role will provide administrative and day-to-day support to the policy and business affairs activities of the CMPA.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Roles and responsibilities will be carried out as generally directed by the Senior Vice-President, Industry, Policy & General Counsel. Roles and responsibilities include, but are not necessarily limited to:
- Plan and schedule internal and external meetings and teleconferences (including drafting and distributing agendas);
- Participating and providing administrative support for working groups, committees, sub-committees and members consultants, including preparing for and scheduling relevant committee teleconferences and/or meetings; tracking member attendance; participating on those teleconferences and/or in meetings; taking notes and drafting minutes; as well as communicating follow-up information to working groups, committees, sub-committees and members consultants as necessary;
- Coordinating meetings and events including all related logistics (accommodations, travel, meeting rooms, catering, audio-visual, etc.) as required;
- Preparation of materials, background information, presentations, and input on files as required;
- With a view to promoting enhanced communication between the various CMPA departments, participating in staff teleconferences and/or at other meetings, and facilitating the flow of relevant information between other CMPA departments;
Additional Responsibilities
- Assist staff with special projects as required;
- Liaise with other staff and offices and assist in CMPA - wide initiatives;
- Other duties as assigned and in keeping with the level of the job description;
COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
The following competencies and skillsets are required for this position:
- Experience in a role providing administrative support to key organizational priorities and/or initiatives;
- Experience in helping to facilitate the flow of information across multiple departments and acting as coordinator and liaison in a dynamic organization;
- Ability to exercise good judgment, showing initiative and being proactive;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills;
- Excellent organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking and time-management skills;
- Ability to develop and maintain positive and effective working relationships with internal and external parties;
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment;
- Professional and highly developed interpersonal skills;
- Adaptable to changes in process, systems, organizational structures and priorities;
- High standards of ethics and confidentiality to handle sensitive information;
- Advanced computer skills including file and data management, including strong proficiency in the use of computer software such as MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat and CRMs;
- Industry experience considered an asset;
- English (written and spoken) essential;
- French (written and spoken) considered an asset

LOCATION: Full-time position based in Toronto. Currently remote/in-office hybrid schedule.
