Community Oral Health Coordinator

Hamilton Urban Core is a thriving inner city health centre and a leader in the provision of high quality primary health services and health promotion programs. Our comprehensive health services are delivered through a dynamic team of multidisciplinary, inter-professional health providers. As an inner-city health centre our client populations include individuals and families with chronic and complex health and social conditions, many of whom are living in poverty. The Community Oral Health Coordinator is an essential member of the client-centered, interprofessional, multidisciplinary team of health providers at Hamilton Urban Core.

The coordinator will work with other members of the Centre’s teams to effectively and efficiently serve clients and communities using responsive and innovative approaches to services and service delivery framed by health equity and the social determinants of health. They will provide oral health care
services including preventative dental health hygiene, oral health promotion and senior client education and participate in the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of programs and services for clients within the Hamilton Community. The suitable candidate must
be detail oriented and have excellent communication skills. Our office is fully compliant with all COVID-19 protocols.

The successful candidate should have:

▪ Registered Dental Hygienist (must have)
▪ Registration with the College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario (must have)
▪ Must be certified to work independently without a Dentist
▪ General or Specialty certificate of registration from the College of Dental Hygienist of Ontario
▪ Experience working in a community setting
▪ Excellent clinical and problem-solving skills
▪ Experience working with individuals and families with chronic and complex health and social conditions
▪ Demonstrated understanding and ability to apply the principles of health promotion, disease / injury prevention, and social determinants of health
▪ Demonstrated understanding and sensitivity to issues impacting inner city populations
▪ Proficiency in the use of computers in the work environment
▪ Ability to work effectively as a member of an inter-professional, multidisciplinary team
▪ Mandarin/ Cantonese language skills are an asset
