Estimated Duration:   12 months, possibility of extension 

Location:  18 King Street East, Bolton ON (hybrid – combination of remote and on-site)

Position Overview:  This is an exciting entry-level opportunity for a passionate communications professional, interested to learn and grow while delivering impact. As part of a dynamic and dedicated team, you’ll contribute to a variety of campaigns and events, undertake creative social media initiatives and engage our diverse community of support. This part-time role is best served by a curious and energetic individual who welcomes challenges and thinks outside the box while utilizing the full range of innovative digital engagement tools. Salary range for this position is $21 - $23 per hour (21 hours per week). This role is hybrid, but may require occasional flexible hours/attendance of weekend events.    

Position Deliverables/Accountabilities:  Under the general direction of the Chief Development Officer (CDO) or designate, the incumbent will: 

  • Develop and implement annual fundraising communications plan and communications calendar, including digital fundraising campaigns and event promotion to support fundraising targets and priorities; 
  • Draft development communications and materials, including donor communications, newsletters, social media content and publications used in the cultivation, solicitation, acknowledgement and stewardship of prospects. Assist in preparation of the annual impact report; 
  • Oversee and implement fund development social media strategy in line with the communications plan and calendar. Source and compile story ideas, images, and other content for newsletters, webpages, campaigns and events, social media channels. Create and edit social media graphics and videos; 
  • Maintain and update fund development webpages, including event-specific websites and donation pages; 
  • Manage social media (Instagram, FB) for signature fundraising events: Gala, Velocity, Coldest Night of the Year; 
  • Analyze the effectiveness of campaigns and/or event promotion using metrics. Keep well-informed on social media trends, technologies and best practices; 
  • Build and deploy targeted email communications to diverse donor constituencies; 
  • Closely collaborate with Communications and Marketing Team to ensure adherence to CCS brand guidelines in all fundraising communications, as well as alignment of fund development and agency-wide communications; 
  • Participate as a contributing member of the Fund Development team and support all departmental activities as required; Other duties/special projects as required.  

Qualification Criteria: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or related field, or a combination of relevant education and experience; 2 years’ relevant experience, preferably in development, marketing, communications roles; 
  • Experience administering social media platforms and writing for a web audience; 
  • Experience in copy writing, writing and editing content for publication and promotion; 
  • Experience with tracking communication metrics and website analytics, preparing reports; 
  • Solid working knowledge of social media and digital tools (graphic design software, video editing software, email marketing software – ie Canva, Filmora, Adobe Creative Suite, Hootsuite, Constant Contact, Animaker, Vimeo); Demonstrated advanced skills in MS Office 365 (Sharepoint, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook). Ability to learn new software tools an asset; 
  • Effective Communicator; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; 
  • Excellent organizational ability and interpersonal skills; 
  • Passionate about helping others; Committed to working with a team to build a great customer experience; 
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle an asset to be effective in this role; 
  • Access to a personal device (smart phone or tablet) is required for periodic, two-factor authentication using the Microsoft Authenticator App when signing into CCS networks/cloud environment as part of I.T. security protocols; 
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check is required.
