The Greater Vancouver International Film Festival Society is a not-for-profit cultural organization that operates the internationally acclaimed Vancouver International Film Festival (VIFF) and the Vancity Theatre, located in the VIFF Centre. Reporting to the Senior Operations Manager, the Concession Attendant is responsible for maintaining operations and assisting customers at the VIFF Centre Concessions and bar. This position ensures the highest level of guest experience at VIFF Centre concessions.  

 

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with a team and maintaining grace under pressure.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the customer service experience.
  • Familiarity with point of sale and inventory systems (Loyverse).
  • Current Serving it Right (Age requirement of 19+) and Food Safe Certificate.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs.

 

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Follow Concession/Bar opening and closing procedures, adhering to proper maintenance of concession equipment.
  • Adheres to food safe practices as established by Food Safe BC and VIFF procedures.
  • Adheres to responsible liquor service practices as established by Serving it Right and VIFF procedures.
  • Stock and restock as necessary, following the correct restocking process.
  • Keep track of inventory and ensure needs are communicated to the on-shift Venue Manager.
  • Assist customers with product selection, film information, and other inquires while maintaining speedy service.
  • Proficient use of the POS System and cash, debit, and credit card handling.
  • Complete accurate daily Concession/Bar inventory, cash reconciliations, and sales reporting.
  • Ensure that the Concession/Bar workspaces and customer spaces are kept clean and tidy, following the approved concession and kitchen lay-out.
  • Assist with theatre cleaning and washroom checks as needed.
  • Act as Concession Muster Warden in the event of building evacuation.
  • Communicate all customer feedback, staff/volunteer issues to the on-shift Venue Manager.
  • Keep up-to-date on all communications.
  • Assist in keeping Kitchen and Concession bulletin board communications updated.
  • Maintain Serving it Right and Food Safe certification.
  • Ensure the highest level of customer service is administered.
  • Adhere to Customer Service Policies.
  • Create a welcoming, safe, and inclusive environment for patrons.
