Wages: $32/hr for 35 hrs per week

 

This is not a bargaining unit position

 

Scope

Working as a key part of the management team, the Coordinator supervises a team of Settlement and Wellbeing Counsellors in the operation and delivery of NSLT program. This includes the provision of immediate and essential services like needs assessment, orientation sessions, referrals, group information sessions and regular follow-up to support clients in reaching their goals. Under the direction of the program manager, the Coordinator manages the quality and delivery of services, prepares reports, supervises staff, manages volunteers, maintains required documentation, communicates with partners, and monitors the team to ensure meeting all program requirements as per the organization’s set goals and targets, and always representing Polycultural in a professional manner.

 

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and coordinates the NSLT settlement and wellbeing team and provides guidance and support in their service delivery.
  • Assists in the hiring, training and supervision of staff and volunteers as needed.
  • Responsible for approving staff vacations, requests for time off and timesheets, and ensure proper staffing on sites.
  • Participates in networking meetings with government departments, community organizations and other service providers to foster collaboration and stay updated on available resources.
  • Ensures adequate staffing of settlement team at the different temporary accommodations where clients (refugees) are staying.
  • Coordinates with community partners, utilising existing partnership and establishing new connections with local service providers to effectively respond to clients’ needs.
  • Develops activities /programs to engage families residing at the temporary accommodation.
  • Works in collaboration with IRCC and the Province of Ontario to align service delivery.
  • Contributes to the development of organizational frameworks in the following areas: standardize program outcomes, quality program standards, research into immigration trends and gaps.
  • Monitors, reviews and prepares statistical and narrative reports ensuring accuracy through relevant databases and other sources.
  • Supervises administrative procedures to meet programs’ objectives
  • Ensures that staff and volunteers adhere to professional and ethical conduct when dealing with clients and offers guidance to ensure quality of service is maintained.
  • Coaches, motivates, supervises staff performance, and administers disciplinary action in a timely manner.
  • Conducts regular performance reviews and take all needed actions to remedy identified issues.
  • Ensures resources are available for regular operations, collaborating with the Programs Manager.
  • Facilitates regular staff meetings to foster communication and teamwork.
  • Prepares funding proposals as directed by the programs manager, seeks opportunities to secure additional resources.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive team culture, promoting collaboration and a client-centered approach to service delivery.

Qualifications

  • University degree in Social Work, Management, Psychology, Adult Education, Counselling or the equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Second language is an asset
  • Strong knowledge of the social and community services sector
  • Experience in supervision and program coordination and delivery
  • Experience supervising in a unionized environment is an asset
  • Proven management experience with demonstrated capacity to manage a small team in a high performance environment.
  • Proven ability to lead and promote a positive and professional team culture
  • Proven program management experience and demonstrated ability to deliver program outcomes on time and to a high standard
  • Knowledge of Settlement/Resettlement Programs
  • Ability to work independently and on a flexible schedule
  • At least three years’ experience in the supervision of staff
  • Strong computer and excellent writing skills
  • Ability to work from multiple locations

 

Other requirements

            A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check (completed when offer is made)
