The Greater Vancouver International Film Festival Society is a not-for-profit cultural organization that operates the internationally acclaimed Vancouver International Film Festival (VIFF) and the Vancity Theatre, located in the VIFF Centre. Reporting to the Senior Operations Manager, the Venue Manager is a shift supervisor responsible for overseeing the daily front of house operations of VIFF Centre. Responsibilities include liaising with renters, customer service, supervising volunteers, supporting box office operations, communicating with technicians, food and beverage management, concession support, cash reconciliation and shift reporting. Although a supervisory role, this position also assists in the Box Office and at the Concession, and must be familiar with and able to work as a Concession Attendant and Bartender, and a Box Office Cashier at VIFF Centre.

 

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that the operations of front of house spaces at VIFF Centre meet the expectations of our customers, our clients, our volunteers, and VIFF Management.
  • Ensures the safety of the patrons and staff members during operations.
  • Works in collaboration with rental clients to ensure the success of rental events.
  • Supervises the front-of-house volunteer team.
  • Supervises and supports the on-shift cashiers and concession staff members to ensure timely service.
  • Offers exceptional service to all customers, volunteers, clients, and renters.
  • Communicates and collaborates with the on-duty VIFF tech team.
  • Encourages a collaborative, inclusive, and welcoming team-focused environment.
  • Keeps up to date on daily organizational communications.
  • Completes opening and closing responsibilities.
  • Completes nightly reporting.

 

 Qualifications:

  • Exceptional communication skills including the ability to speak in public.
  • Experience leading large, diverse teams and maintaining grace under pressure.
  • Ability to multi-task and float between different positions.
  • Experience leading and collaborating with volunteers.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the customer service experience.
  • Food handling experience.
  • Cash handling experience.
  • Familiarity with scheduling and ticketing software, point of sale and inventory systems, (Shiftboard, AudienceView, Loyverse) and Microsoft Office.
  • Current Serving it Right and Food Safe certification.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs.
