Opportunity

Surrey Youth Housing Services requires a Team Lead to provide day to day program oversite to multiple youth housing programs.  As a member of the Surrey Youth Services team, the Team Lead is part of a leadership group that oversees PCRSs’ youth services in Surrey. The Housing Team Lead provides mentorship, support, and supervision to a team of specialized youth housing workers that work within MCFD contracts and Federal housing contracts. They will demonstrate strong organizational and leadership skills, including familiarity with federal contracts and budget management. The position will require experience working in Surrey and experience in the housing field. The Team Lead builds and develops partnerships and networks both in and outside the community. The successful candidate will be passionate about housing and understand the pathways that lead to youth homelessness. They will encourage and promote a trauma informed, strength based and participant focused approach. 

This position supports teams who work in the evenings and on weekends. There will be on-call work, evening, and weekend work.

Responsibilities

Provides Direct Supervision to the Program:

1) Liaises with other agencies/professional/community groups:

• Maintains a positive relationship with the funder (Provincial and Federal), including meeting all required reporting
• Represents the Program within PCRS as well as to other agencies and at community meetings, as per contract agreement
• Maintains effective relationships with other youth-serving agencies within the community
• Represents PCRS at community committees related to the housing. 

2) Provides Effective Leadership to the Program: • Setting objectives and tracking program outcomes

• Communicates effectively with team members
• Address the evolving needs of Program
• Organizing, supporting, and developing the team environment
• Delegate responsibilities and tasks, including training program staff
• Provides Leadership in identifying problems and resolving them
• Provides Leadership in developing program activities and evaluation.
• Supports trauma-informed approach 

3) Provides Direct Supervision to the Program:

• Assists in hiring new program staff
• Coordinates orientation for new staff, practicum students, etc.
• Provides opportunities for staff to consult or provide training regarding counselling issues, & policy issues
• Coordinates Team Meetings
• Assesses performance and conducts supervision meetings
• Gives and receives constructive criticism 

4) Provide Case Management Support to Staff:

• Understands the importance of the role of case management and goal setting with a strength-based approach.
• Engages in regular case management reviews with staff and provides support.  

5) To Maintain Health and Safety:

• Provides leadership in developing program activities and evaluation.
• Supports a trauma-informed approach  

Hours – Core Service hours of 10am to 6pm (flexibility may be required due to programming needs)

There may be a need for earlier or later hours depending upon circumstances, including morning meetings and evening youth events; offering support at key times and coordinating others to assist when not available.

Qualifications

• Child and Youth Care Degree, B.A. in a related field plus one-year related experience, or a Child and Youth Care Diploma plus 2 years’ experience, or a combination of education and related work experience. Candidate must have relevant leadership/supervisory experience.
• Criminal record check including the vulnerable sector
• Valid BC driver’s license & Vehicle with Business insurance
• Driver’s abstract must be submitted
