For over 25 years, Stardale Women's Group has empowered the lives of Indigenous girls, strengthened their families, and inspired communities to engage in the core values of reconciliation.

 

We are currently looking to add compassionate and outgoing FEMALE program support workers to our team in part-time and casual (on-call) roles.

 

The program support worker assists Stardale in carrying out our mission of helping Indigenous young women overcome systemic barriers by providing life skills, foundational learning and literacy, and advocacy for themselves, their families, and their communities.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Transporting participants to and from programming and events in and around Calgary using personal vehicle (mileage reimbursed) predominantly Monday and Wednesdays evening plus occasional weekends as needed
  • Providing life skills coaching and mentorship through 1-1 and group activities
  • Fostering positive relations with youth and caregivers through respectful interactions and communication
  • Acting as an Ambassador of Stardale Women's Group during all service interactions

Qualifications:

  • A range of educational backgrounds and professional experience considered although those with social work or human services training preferred
  • Highly motivated with excellent relationship building and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working with vulnerable youth and Indigenous communities preferred
  • CPR/First Aid, Trauma Informed Care certifications
  • Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable vehicle necessary
  • Current Police Records Check and Vulnerable Record Check

Purpose of Stardale Community Programming:

  • Provide supervised (skills building) activities for female Indigenous youth between the ages of 10-17 years
  • Promote Indigenous culture and ways of knowing
  • Build caring relationships and safe spaces that encompass coaching and mentoring
  • Identify community supports and nurture natural supports

These are Fee for Service opportunities ranging from 5-20hrs/week.
