The objective of the Child Protection Program is to ensure the safety and well-being of children and to work towards the preservation of families. The Child Protection Program provides a continuum of services, from preventive programs which support and maintain families, to services that ensure permanency for children in care.
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Reporting to the Practice Manager, the Team Leader is responsible for planning, developing, managing, coordinating and evaluating the delivery of services within a Child Safety team. The Team Leader is directly accountable for the quality of service to children and families and for setting and monitoring standards in a culturally relevant manner. This position has broad responsibility to work with diverse community partners with respect to the delivery of a range of services and is pivotal in establishing and implementing the multi-disciplinary approach in service delivery. This position provides direction, leadership and support to staff for professional and integrated service delivery, and must ensure adequate clinical support is provided as well as a broad range of staff training and development.
The Team Leader will demonstrate practical knowledge of the day to day running of a Child Safety Team in a child and family service agency serving a large urban Indigenous population. The successful candidate will have:
As a member of the larger Child Safety team, as well as the VACFSS Leadership team, the Team Leader contributes to team activities, shares ideas/information and experience with team members, and demonstrates commitment to team decisions and goals.
The Team Leader will demonstrate and model the values of belonging, respect, strengths-based practice, integrity and humility. The Team Leader’s practice will be conducted in accordance with practice standards, delegation, legislation, and VACFSS’s philosophy of service delivery, in pursuit of a balanced and harmonious Aboriginal community. The successful candidate will be required to lead and develop staff within VACFSS’ Restorative Practice Policies Keeping Our Children Safe and Raising Our Children together as well as coach and mentor staff using VACFSS’ Restorative Supervision model.
