Job Overview:

Terra Centre is looking for professional Early Childhood Educators interested in working in an environment of continuous professional learning to empower children and families at our Child and Family Support Centre located at Braemar Highschool. Job Conditions:

  • This role is anticipated to begin in Fall 2023
  • 35 hours/week – we follow the public-school calendar (10-month employment and opportunity for 1 month (reduced hours) for summer school in July)
  • Available between 8:00am – 5:00pm with some evening and occasional weekends dependent on program needs

Key responsibilities:

  • Work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team to empower children and families
  • Value play as a learning process
  • Create responsive environments to nurture children’s optimal well-being and dispositions to learn
  • Plan engaging experiences based on observed interests for the holistic learning and development of children aged 0 – 5 years.
  • Work within a practice of relationships with families to share and generate ideas and foster a sense of belonging
  • Engage in documenting children’s learning

Qualifications:

Knowledge and Abilities: 

  • Education specific to the field of Early Childhood/Early Learning
  • Early Childhood Educator Level 3 Certification (preferred)
  • Early Childhood Educator Level 2 considered based on experience
  • Experience working with diverse families
  • Experience working with children aged 0-6 years (preferred)
  • Experience and knowledge of Flight: Alberta’s Early Learning and Care Framework
  • Brain Story Certification is considered an asset

Other requirements: 

  • Current (within last 3 month) Criminal Record Check and CWIS Record Check required
  • Current Childcare CPR & First Aid certificate
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Able to lift between 25 – 40 lbs.

Salary: $22.29 - $27.20 per hour commensurate on certification and experience. Upon completion of a probationary period, we offer a comprehensive, competitive, extended health benefits package including RRSP contribution. Staff are allocated personal and sick days as well as three weeks’ vacation some of which is assigned to school closure dates.
