Client and Volunteer Services Supervisor

    

Position Summary

Reports to the Executive Director and is responsible for overseeing the successful operation of the Client Service & Volunteer Programs in Caledon and Dufferin County.  The Supervisor works closely with clients/ caregivers, volunteers and provides leadership and supervision to the program staff.  This position ensures all related administrative tasks are completed and manages the day-to-day budget of the programs as well as ensures quality programs delivered, and client and volunteer needs are met.

 

  • Oversees the Meals on Wheels & Security Check Service, Friendly Visiting and Project Lifesaver (PLS) and Volunteer Programs
  • Conducts phone and/or in-home client assessments and determines eligibility/ suitability for CMOW programs and services and referrals
  • Oversee the recruitment, screening, selection and training of individual and corporate/ business volunteers
  • Ensure that safety checks are being conducted according to CMOW policies and procedures and provide necessary follow up with the client and/or caregivers
  • Identify, match, introduce and monitor volunteers with clients for the Friendly Visiting Program
  • Provide information, training and support to caregivers and clients registered in the PLS program
  • Supervise support, and act as a backup for the Meals on Wheels Team and ensure they have the necessary tools, supplies, systems, and training to perform their jobs
  • Conduct performance evaluations, set annual goals and provide regular supervision meeting for staff reports
  • Develop and implement outreach and marketing strategies as needed
  • Monitor program budgets and expenditures
  • Collect and analyze data on client or volunteer complaints/ suggestions and make recommendations for improvements if necessary
  • Maintain contact and ongoing liaison with appropriate outside agencies through committee and network meetings

 

Qualifications

  • Post-Secondary School Diploma/ Degree in a Social or Community Service Program and/or 2 years related work experience
  • Demonstrated assessment and referral skills with vulnerable populations
  • Experience in supervision and support of personnel
  • Working knowledge and experience with MSOffice and client data bases
  • Solid time management and organizational skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of seniors’ and community service issues
  • Daily use of a car is required
