The Memorial Society of BC is a not-for-profit, non-sectarian consumer advocacy organization formed in 1956. We are an objective source of education and information regarding the funeral sector. We provide our members with access to ethical and affordable funeral providers and support our members in end-of-life planning.

Position Summary

We are looking for a creative and strategic Outreach Coordinator to help raise awareness and promote the Memorial Society of BC to diverse constituencies.  This includes building relationships with relevant not-for-profit organizations, professional associations and community groups, as well as developing content for website, newsletters and promotional materials.  The Outreach Coordinator will often be the first point of contact for the organization and requires a professional, enthusiastic and positive approach.  

 

Reporting to the Executive Director, this is a new, part-time position that offers an exciting opportunity for creativity and growth while making a meaningful contribution to society.

 

Responsibilities

  • Research and identity opportunities to successfully promote the organization to increase membership
  • Develop and nurture relationships with diverse organizations and groups
  • Organize and deliver outreach presentations in the community
  • Attend community meetings and networking events as required
  • Develop content for website and newsletter
  • Assist with social media as required
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

  • Degree in community development, communications or marketing, or equivalent in training and experience
  • Demonstrated ability to network and build relationships
  • Exceptional written and presentation communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills with ability to work with minimal supervision and meet deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills with positive and out-going approach
  • Sound knowledge of community resources
  • Experience with social media platforms and websites as asset
  • Knowledge of not-for-profit operations preferable
  • Knowledge or interest in end-of-life issues a strong asset

 

Position type: One-year contract with possibility for renewal, beginning October 2, 2023.

Hours: Part-time position up to 10 hours per week

Rate: $28.00 per hour
