Compensation: Connections offers a competitive salary range and benefits. The entry level salary for this role is $65,000. Total compensation will commensurate with experience.

Connections for Families supports people with cognitive challenges to make choices and decisions for their lives, including being parents. With the support of Connections, parents with cognitive challenges work to maintain a safe and nurturing home for their children. As a leader in parents’ rights advocacy, Connections provides life-long, in-home support and parenting skills education, financial coaching, group programs, counselling, and community resourcing to families in and around Calgary.
 
About the Role
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Operations Manager will assist the Executive Director and provide support in the overall administrative and operational management of the agency. Specifically, he/she will be responsible for the following:
 
Support to Executive Director

  • Support the ED to plan and coordinate internal and external meetings and maintain operational filing systems.
  • Support the ED to prepare documentation and reports for the staff team and Board of Directors.
  • Help organize the Leadership Team’s communication and administrative needs.
  • Routinely perform a variety of support duties to the ED.

Financial Management and Reporting

  • Support the Executive Director in the planning and execution of annual operations and budgeting.
  • Work with the Executive Director to ensure financial/bookkeeping systems, processes and procedures are in place, current, and adhered to.
  • Support the Executive Director to prepare financial reports to funders.
  • Work with the Executive Director in strategic planning and in anticipation of future needs and resources.

Human Resources

  • Support the Executive Director to ensure all relevant employee/employer policies are in place, current and adhere to federal and provincial legislation.
  • Take a lead role in maintaining accurate and updated personnel records, including performance management and employee engagement strategies.
  • Work with the Executive Director to ensure total compensation strategy adheres to organizational goals and is competitive, transparent, and equitable.
  • Encourage and facilitate team building through open communication and positive working relationships among staff and management.

Program Development and Evaluation

  • Work with the team to ensure program and service quality excellence and consistency.
  • Support the Executive Director to facilitate the monitoring and evaluation of programs and services.
  • Work with the Executive Director to ensure the agency and the team have the resources and equipment they need to carry out their roles and responsibilities.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Post-secondary education in management, finance, human resources, or a relevant field.
  • 5-10 years of professional experience managing multiple administrative functions.
  • Experience in accounting or bookkeeping principles and practices.
  • Strategic thinker with a high degree of accountability and discretion.
  • Experience in human resource management, with demonstrated aptitude for creating a positive climate for human performance and effective relationship building. 
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in the non-profit sector, specifically the disability sector, would be an asset.
  • Competent in MS Office.
