Position Description: Regional Pathways Analyst

The Transition Accelerator is a pan-Canadian organization that works with others to identify and advance viable pathways to a prosperous, competitive, and net-zero Canada in 2050. About the Role

Within The Accelerator, our Regional Pathways division focuses on supporting the transition to net zero at the sub-national level. We engage stakeholders to map out and advance region-specific strategies for achieving net-zero emissions. For this role, we are seeking someone with a diverse skill set—someone capable of organizing data effectively in Excel, analyzing large datasets, conducting comprehensive reviews of technology and policy literature, and expressing ideas clearly and concisely in writing. We are also looking for individuals who thrive on a varied workload, covering a range of decarbonization technologies and policies across different regions of the country.

Collaboration is key in our Regional Pathways division. We work closely with other verticals within The Transition Accelerator, including Electrification, Industrial Policy, and Net-Zero Fuels. Additionally, we collaborate with consortia closely linked to The Accelerator, such as the Building Decarbonization Alliance. Your Day-to-Day

As an analyst, you’ll work closely with the Director of Regional Pathways to advance net-zero pathways across the country. On a typical workday, your tasks may include:

• Data Collection and Cleansing: Gathering, cleaning, and summarizing data related to trade, GDP, or other economic indicators.
• Visualizations or Dashboards: Designing and developing data visualizations or interactive dashboards to visually represent datasets and the insights derived from modelling.
• PowerPoint Deck Preparation: Crafting PowerPoint presentations to provide support for engagement activities, ensuring clear and compelling communication.
• Developing Analytical Models: Constructing analytical models to calculate energy usage and assess the cost-effectiveness of various technologies.
• Literature Review Summaries: Composing concise summaries of findings from literature reviews, distilling complex information into easily digestible formats.
• Engagement Support: Assisting in coordinating and participating in calls with industry and government representatives, contributing to effective communication and collaboration.

Qualifications

In this role, we are looking for individuals who can bring the following qualifications and skills:

• Relevant Education and Experience: A minimum of a bachelor’s degree and 2-3 years of experience in a related field, which could include climate studies, clean energy, engineering, or economics.
• Clean Energy Acumen: Knowledge pertaining to clean energy technologies and policies, demonstrating a strong grasp of the subject matter.
• Data Analysis Proficiency: The capability to proficiently find, clean, and analyze extensive datasets, using tools like Excel, as well as coding languages such as Python, R, or similar.
• Excel Expertise: Proficiency in developing well-structured and organized Excel workbooks, tailored for analysis and data visualization.
• Concise Communication: The ability to effectively synthesize and summarize substantial volumes of written information, presenting complex ideas concisely and clearly.

The Transition Accelerator works on projects in both official languages. Bilingualism is considered an asset.

Additional Information

This is a full-time, remote position based in Canada, and may require some travel. The successful applicant is expected to work from home and be available during core hours between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. The position has a compensation package benchmarked to sector standards.
