We work with thousands of food businesses from across the supply chain utilizing logistics and technology to reduce the amount of edible food going to waste, thereby diverting unnecessary greenhouse gases from entering the environment.

The Fundraising Associate will support the achievement of peer-to-peer (P2P) fundraising targets through timely stewardship and recognition, prospect research and pipeline development, campaign calls, and general administrative support.

We are looking for someone with strong administrative and organizational skills and is eager to support a small but mighty Strategic Partnerships team.

 

You Will

  • Oversee stewardship and recognition activities for the P2P portfolio making recommendations for improvements as needed. Prepare and send donor kits, certificates, plaques, and other supply materials to P2P teams. Support with the creation of P2P TeamRaiser fundraising pages.
  • Perform prospecting and lead generation to identify new corporate and other P2P prospects.
  • Perform initial outreach to prospects and leads via email, cold calling, and warm calling.
  • Respond to incoming calls related to the P2P program and other Strategic Partnerships initiatives.
  • Meticulously update and maintain donor database (Raiser’s Edge); complete routine audits to ensure accurate donor records.
  • Support with logistics and inventory management for Second Harvest’s auctions.
  • Serve as a representative of Second Harvest, building and maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders; address and resolve all customer service issues promptly, escalating to appropriate persons and/or departments when necessary.
  • Complete financial reporting as required.
  • Perform day-to-day clerical and administrative support for the P2P and overall Strategic Partnerships team.
  • Support with walks/runs and ECHOage platform management, as well as conduct pre and post event stewardship for individuals that choose to fundraise for Second Harvest.
  • Provide general support on-site at Second Harvest events during set-up, execution, and tear-down.
  • Perform other related duties as required or assigned to support the overall goals of the organization.

 

You Are

  • Passionate: You are inspired by the work of Second Harvest and are enthusiastic about sharing our vision of “No Waste. No Hunger.” with businesses and organizations.
  • Communicator: You are comfortable cold-calling businesses as well as communicating with donors via phone and e-mail. You have very strong verbal and written communication skills. French bilingualism is not required but would be considered an asset.
  • Fundraiser: You have proven success in fundraising or sales with a track record of meeting revenue targets.
  • Organized: You have very strong organizational and time management skills. You have a very keen attention to detail coupled with the ability to multitask.
  • Collaborative: You have a positive, collaborative working style. Your past colleagues would call you a “team player.”
  • A motivated self-starter, capable of working with minimal supervision.
  • Proven track record in customer service or stewardship.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Knowledge of pivot tables would be an asset.
  • Experience with CRMs (in particular, Raiser’s Edge) or TeamRaiser would be considered an asset.
  • Physical stamina to meet demands of on-site event execution (being on feet for long hours, lifting, etc.).
  • Able to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends for special events or during peak periods. Able to travel and have a valid Class G driver’s license (mileage compensated).
