Job Title: Hope Nursing Clinic - Administrator

Based at: Downtown, Edmonton

Reports to: Manager, Homeless Ministries

Hours of work: Full time, Monday to Friday, 9-5pm, no weekends or holidays

 Job Summary:

 The Hope Mission Nursing clinic provides Nursing services to vulnerable community members through a Drop-In Nursing Clinic as well as an emergency response to anyone in and around Shelters. This program is essential to maintaining the health and wellbeing of clients and the broader community.  The Administrator’s role within the clinic is to manage and maintain administrative and organizational tasks for the smooth operation of the nursing clinic.

 Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Greeting and directing clients
  • Connecting and building rapport with clients
  • Updating client records on ETO and/or EMR system
  • Managing Inventory of nursing supplies, naloxone, and clothing
  • Communicate with logistics to arrange for clothing, PPE, sharps waste containers, medication disposal containers.
  • Assist Nursing Coordinator in purchasing Nursing clinical and office supplies
  • Assisting clients with the phone or phone calls
  • Assisting clients with documents (providing maps, giving directions, printing/filling forms, referrals to resources, spiritual mentorship etc.)
  • Assisting clients with transportation (bus tickets/passes, taxi vouchers, HMRV referrals)
  • Assisting clients with booking appointments
  • Answering Nursing Landline and monitor Nursing general email
  • Assist Nursing Staff with implementing and maintaining procedures/office administrative systems
  • Track and submit Nursing and Paramedic Stats
  • Assisting Nursing staff with restocking and organization within the clinic and storage room
  • Communicate with logistics support staff on vehicle maintenance concerns.
  • Communicate with Nursing Coordinator.
  • Assist with additional tasks as required by Nursing Coordinator.

Minimum Qualifications and Skills:

  • Clean criminal record check, including vulnerable sector check and child welfare check is required. 
  • First Aid and Non Violent Crisis Intervention training is an asset, but is provided if needed.
  • High level of care and compassion for culturally marginalized and underprivileged people.
  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office platform
  • Strong organizational skills and great sense of attention to detail
  • Previous experience using an EMR system is an asset, but not required
  • Ability to learn and understand a variety of Hope Missions Programs including but not limited to Housing programs, Recovery Programs, and Crisis Diversion Program.

  • Calm under pressure
  • Able to problem solve and use critical thinking skills
  • Flexible to meet the various changing demands within the clinic
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and medical supplies is highly beneficial, but not required
  • Emotional intelligence and capacity to respond quickly and effectively to rapidly changing circumstances. 
  • Ability to interact compassionately with intoxicated individuals or/and individuals with poor mental health.

Other Requirements:

  • Being a Christian Organization we require our employees to be in agreement and sign the Hope Mission Statement of Faith.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada on a full-time basis.
  • Able to provide Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search
  • A letter of reference from a ministry or church is an asset
  • Adherence to Hope Mission’s Policies and Procedures.
