Compensation: Approximately $330 000/FTE *Alternative Payment Arrangement – Service Contract
1 FTE = 35 hrs per week for 48 weeks.
Contract deliverable: 1 FTE to hold a minimum panel of 800 active attached patients
Benefits and/or Incentives: Vacation/Study Leave: 7 weeks a year unpaid as part of service contract agreement.
Organization
REACH is a Community Health Centre in East Vancouver, established in 1969 to provide high quality integrated health care to area residents. The Centre provides dental and medical services, has a pharmacy and a wide range of preventative programs.
Position Summary & Responsibilities
This position is for a is a full service family physician (excluding obstetrics or hospital work), providing care in clinic, home and institutions within an interdisciplinary team approach. Availability for extended evening opening hours until 8pm is required for one evening a week. Telephone on-call and week-end clinics are shared on a 1:9 rota.
The position is funded through a contract with the VCHA and the Alternative Payments Program of the BC Ministry of Health.
This role reports to the Executive Director and the Medical Director. Our health care team includes physicians, several registered and licensed practical nurses, pharmacy staff, counselors, social workers, and well trained and friendly support staff. They offer an interdisciplinary approach to health care, and encourage patients to be active participants in their health as well as to take responsibility for their own health status. The ongoing education of medical personnel is an important aspect of the clinic’s responsibility to the community.
We use Oscar as our EMR.
The successful candidate will show a high level of clinical skill and competence in combination with exceptional communication skills with team members and patients who may be vulnerable for complex medical or social reasons. They are willing or able to participate as a prescriber of Opioid Agonist Therapy integrated with primary care to patients where needed. They will have a good understanding of, and commitment to addressing the social determinants of health in their contact with patients and in their interactions with the wider team. Their work will aspire to the highest levels of trauma informed care and cultural safety. They will have a commitment to longitudinal and comprehensive care within a team based approach. They will be organized and willing to contribute to system change as needed to address the needs of their patients. They will be willing and able to contribute to educational activities in the clinic for the benefit of their colleagues and health professionals in training.
