Hours of work:  Full Time, 40 hours per week.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Responsible for food preparation at the Hope Mission Centre in Edmonton which includes: sorting, washing, and peeling, chopping, slicing, cooking of food and other kitchen related duties determined by the Food Services Manager
• Responsible for menu planning (aligning with Canada food guide), food ordering & inventory in coordination with the Food Services Manager
• Responsible for overseeing staff and volunteers who are scheduled to serve in the kitchen ensuring they are trained and following AHS food preparation standards
• Maintain excellent serving and cleaning standards.
• Strong communication skills.
• Maintain a positive and safe kitchen environment.
• Ability to work well with staff, volunteers, and guests of the program.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS: 

• Team player
• Must be physically fit, no issues with standing and able to lift average 50 lbs
• Completion of high school.
• Related training or 2 years work experience as a cook is required.
• Food Safety Certificate
• Understanding of food processing and kitchen equipment.
• Comfortable working with vulnerable people.
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff, volunteers, and guests.
• Conflict resolution skills.
• Administrative and organizational abilities.
• Ability to exercise authority without intimidation.
• Self-management skills.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

• Being a Christian Organization we require our employees to be in agreement and sign the Hope Mission Statement of Faith 
• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada on a full-time basis.
• Able to provide Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search
• A letter of reference from a ministry or church is an asset
• Adherence Hope Mission’s Policies and Procedures.

SALARY:   $19 per hour (during 3 month probation). $20 per hour after probation

                   Excellent Manulife Health and Dental Benefits (after 3 month probation)

 HOURS:    40 hours per week,

                   Weekly Schedule determined by the Food Services Manager.
