Role Overview
Everywoman’s Health Centre (EWHC), BC’s first and leading freestanding abortion clinic, is accepting applications for an experienced Executive Director with strong business, people dynamics, and management skills. The role is based in Vancouver, BC and will oversee an organization of experienced unionized clinicians, physicians, and operational staff. The Operations Manager is their direct report alongside an internal clinical group. They report to the Board of Directors.
This is a great opportunity for someone to lead an organization with long-standing history in providing access to critical women’s health services in a person-focused way and to multi-cultural and immigrant patients.

Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a professional individual who has strong business sense, can maintain, deepen, and live the organization’s purpose, and can juggle the demands of a busy clinic with a lean but strong administrative team. They have experience navigating and managing change and people dynamics, and work across knowledge experts to bring everyone together to achieve a common purpose.
The candidate can lead in a not-for-profit setting with a diverse unionized staff and patient roster and understands the demands of the health care sector, specifically the challenges involved in the abortion and reproductive health field. Their leadership approach is collaborative and facilitates others and the clinic to succeed. They have strong stakeholder relations and negotiation skills which will support their relationship with the unions, funders, and internal stakeholders. A medical background is considered an asset, but it is not required for this position.

Working Conditions
The Executive Director is a full-time position within a strong value-based organization. This position requires a high level of team collaboration and transparency, yet also requires significant autonomy and ability to move forward effectively on decisions. The work can involve moderate exposure to some disagreeable conditions (e.g., exposure to adverse environmental characteristics, requirement for personal sacrifice and exposure to confrontation situations).

As a condition of working at EWHC, you must pass certain background checks under the standards set by the Vancouver Coastal Health Services Authority including an initial and recurrent criminal records check(s) and an Immunization check, including full vaccination against COVID-19.
Organizational Profile
EWHC is a non-profit society and registered charity that provides abortion and sexual health services. The organization receives its base funding from the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority. The facility is accredited by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC and the National Abortion Federation. EWHC employs approximately 30 staff and contractors, and the clinic has a unionized workforce. It is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors.
EWHC provides care for all women, inclusive of LGBTQ2SAI+ individuals, and has always worked on a model of service which empowers women to participate in their own health care. The organization adheres to the principles of responsibility, accountability, and teamwork in its internal organizational structure.
