Opportunity

Surrey Youth Services is currently looking for auxiliary on-call staff to provide overnight extreme weather shelter support during the winter. Hours will vary. Successful applicants will be part of an auxiliary pool and may have the opportunity to work in a variety of youth work settings such as supporting youth in our resource rooms, outreach and various other youth programs operating out of the Surrey Youth Hubs.

Responsibilities

  • De-escalate crisis and facilitate conflict resolution.
  • Completing and managing daily documentation.
  • Respond to challenging behaviors and situations with trauma informed practices, using a non-judgmental professional approach with appropriate boundaries and kindness.
  • Set and maintain value-based boundaries.
  • Create an atmosphere of inclusivity, acceptance, support, and confidence.
  • Work within a flexible work schedule and work the meet the operational requirements of a 4.5 - 12 hr program.
  • Communicate effectively with coworkers and staff and participate in team efforts.

 

 

Qualifications

  • B.A. or a degree in a related field plus one year of related experience
  • Community service support worker (CSSW) diploma or a Child and youth care counsellor (CYCC) diploma plus two years related experience.
  • Criminal record check including the vulnerable sector.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Use of own vehicle to and from work
  • Current first aid and CPR certificate
