$55,000 - 70,000 per year

Situation:

The YMCA of Greater Toronto and YMCA BC have partnered to create the first-of-its-kind digital platform in Canada – YMCA Ignite.  Thanks in part to generous funding from the RBC Future Launch Foundation, our YMCAs are leading the development of YMCA Ignite to enable YMCAs to expand their geographic reach, increase availability to critical programs, and increase our overall impact on Canadian youth.

 

YMCA Ignite aims to increase availability to critical programs previously inaccessible due to geographic barriers; increase impact on Canadian youth ages 15 - 29, with a focus on BIPOC and rural communities; and prepare young people for the jobs of tomorrow. This platform aims to serve 25,000 youth by 2025.

Nature & Scope:

The Online Learning Content and Curriculum Developer is an innovative and detail-oriented professional who is dedicated to creating and implementing a range of online learning content for the YMCAs of BC and Greater Toronto as well as our partner YMCAs. 

 

The successful candidate will work as part of a collaborative team to fulfill the content goals and objectives of the YMCA Ignite platform.

 

This is a creative, high-output, deadline-driven position. The Online Learning Content and Curriculum Developer will have knowledge and experience in the following areas: e-learning course creation, self-authoring software, e-learning design principals, adult learning principals, English-language corporate writing and copy editing, and/or English Language Development (ELD) standards.

 

Major Responsibilities:

                 

Dependent upon the skills and competencies of the successful candidate, the Online Learning Content and Curriculum Developer can expect to be tasked as follows:

  • Analyze and document core requirements and insights from subject matter experts and learners for incorporation into online courses
  • Coordinate and collect subject matter, documentation, and information necessary to develop high quality, self-directed online courses and related resource materials
  • Write and edit storyboards for e-learning modules
  • Write clear, accurate, and original copy
  • Recommend tactics, tools, formats and/or resources that will elevate course content
  • Create online courses using self-authoring software
  • Design assessment measures, including knowledge audits, course evaluations, and tests
  • Participate in content review, revision, and sign-off cycles
  • Provide analysis on nation-wide e-learning opportunities that align with the YMCA mission and values
  • Monitor analytics and YMCA Ignite user experiences
  • Ensure YMCA brand compliance
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications/Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in education, marketing, communications, or related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of related work experience in three or more of the following areas: virtual content creation, e-learning course creation, corporate writing, copyediting, graphic design, website development, or education.
  • Strong proficiency with with e-learning software and course authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline
  • Knowledge of instructional design theory, adult learning principles, and/or English Language Learner development standards
  • Strong oral communication and exemplary English-language writing skills, including copywriting, promotional writing, business writing, web, social media, and editing.
  • Collaborative with a customer-focused, positive attitude and a willingness to learn new skills.
  • A self-starter with the ability to initiate projects and see them through to completion.
  • Ability to adapt and work through ambiguity, changing priorities and juggle multiple demands with competing timelines.
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound judgments and decisions and create action plans based on information discovered.
  • Creative problem solver, with the ability to think outside the box.
  • Excellent organizational skills with great attention to detail.
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Records Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six (6) months preceding start date
  • 3 Professional Reference Checks to be completed
