on-call / relief / casual  •  $15.00 to $19.00 per hour

The Dishwasher is responsible for washing and sanitizing the flatware and dishes used by Poundmaker’s Lodge. They are also responsible for ensuring the dining room is stocked with supplies and the general clean up of the kitchen and the dining room. 


Operational Duties

  • Wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, and pans using dishwasher or by hand
  • Place clean dishes, utensils, cups and mugs into the appropriate places in the dining hall and cooking equipment in storage areas
  • Maintain kitchen work areas, equipment, or utensils in clean an orderly condition
  • Clean or prepare various foods for cooking or serving
  • Stock supplies, such as food or utensils, in serving stations, cupboards, refrigerators, or salad bars
  • Set up of dining hall tables
  • Sweep or scrub floors
  • Clean garbage cans with water or steam
  • Remove trash, placing it in designated pickup areas
  • Transfer supplies or equipment between storage and work areas, by hand or using hand trucks
  • Receive and store supplies
  • Unload trucks that deliver food or supplies.
  • Attend all mandatory team meetings, training initiatives and working groups
  • Adhere to the weekly planning schedule as set out by the Kitchen Supervisor which identifies weekly roles and responsibilities
  • Participates in supervision meeting to improve skills and abilities
  • Identify and report immediately to your supervisor any inappropriate and unethical behavior witnessed of staff or clientele
  • Adhere to established PLTC policies, code of professional conduct, and code of ethics which holds all staff accountable for their behavior and professionalism
  • Support the Accreditation process and adhere to all Accreditation processes and standards as per the Canadian Accreditation Council
  • Performs other related duties as assigned


Client Support

  • Maintain clearly defined professional boundaries in engaging clientele
  • Comply with PLTC Code of professional and ethical conduct when associating with clients


Safety and Security

  • Comply with existing PLTC practices in the event of a crisis situation (e.g. fire and emergency)
  • Regularly sign in and out on the fire regulation sheet upon shift start and end
  • Record immediately any functional or operational irregularities or concerns in or around the centre in the maintenance repair binder
  • All other duties requested
