The Role

This role is ideal for those looking for an opportunity to make a difference in the community while at the same time maintaining a work-life balance.  The Mobile Surgery Unit provides spay/neuter access to care for Edmonton and area residents.

 

The purpose of this position is to relocate, secure and support the Mobile Surgical trailer, and to ensure functionality and safety for medical staff.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

This position is responsible for a variety of functions as follows:

  • Ensure truck and trailer are properly connected
  • Drive trailer round-trip to designated locations
  • Park trailers and stabilize
  • Check the mechanical operation of the trailer, and establish an electrical connection.
  • Perform Occupational Health and Safety Site-Check
  • Engage with passersby in preventing disruption to the function of the surgical unit
  • Answer questions about the unit and the associated programs as needed
  • Escort team members to lunch/washroom facilities to support the buddy system philosophy.
  • Prepare trailer and truck for departure and assist with off-boarding content.

Education & Requirements

  • Class 5 Alberta driver's license
  • Possess a driver abstract free of demerits or traffic violations
  • Minimum one year of experience driving a truck and trailer, particularly in tight areas
  • Knowledge of the City of Edmonton navigation

Skills & Abilities

As the ideal candidate, you will have a passion for people, performance, and diversity (and of course animal welfare). You possess knowledge of stabilizing trailers and can drive in a safe and defensive manner.

 

You are a great communicator and comfortable with assertive communication when needed.

Compensation & Hours

  • Compensation: EHS offers a competitive not-for-profit compensation package which includes a comprehensive benefits package, and a strong work-life balance.
  • Hours: This position requires travel throughout Edmonton and surrounding areas. This position will consist of daytime shifts, three times per week, during weekdays only.
