Join the Stardale Women's Group in our mission to empower Indigenous girls in Calgary. We are currently seeking compassionate and dedicated Part-Time and Casual Female Program Support Workers to provide essential life skills and literacy-building programs and activities for at-risk girls aged 10-17.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

1. Transportation/Driving:

  • Safely transport participants within Calgary using personal vehicles.
  • Availability required on Mon/Wed evenings between 4:30-9 pm, with occasional weekday and weekend events and activities.

2. Relationship Building:

  • Foster empowering relationships through mentoring and coaching.
  • Align activities with Indigenous teachings and program goals.

3. Risk Management:

  • Identify participant risks and communicate them to the Program Coordinator.
  • Collaborate on risk mitigation strategies.

4. Participant Relations:

  • Establish open communication with participants and caregivers.
  • Organize one-on-one events to deepen connections.

5. Stardale Ambassadorship:

  • Represent Stardale positively in program activities and external events.
  • Engage with stakeholders including participants, caregivers, and volunteers.

Qualifications:

  • Preference is given to those with experience in Community Programming, Education, Youth and Child Care, Social Work, Psychology, etc.
  • Critical thinking, strong motivational, relationship, and problem-solving skills.
  • Preferred: experience with vulnerable youth and Indigenous communities.
  • CPR/First Aid, Trauma Informed Care certifications.
  • Current Police and Vulnerable Record Checks.
  • Valid license, clean record, reliable vehicle.

Purpose of Stardale Community Programming:

  • Provide supervised activities for female Indigenous youth aged 10-17 years in a holistic setting.
  • Promote Indigenous culture and ways of knowing.
  • Build caring relationships and safe spaces encompassing coaching and mentoring.
  • Identify community supports and nurture natural supports.

These are Fee for Service opportunities ranging from 5-20 hours per week. Positions are available immediately.
