Volunteer Posting 102

Public Health Program Facilitator
Health Out Loud
WORK FROM HOME (Telecommute)
flexible / as needed
closed yesterday (Sun, 31 May)

Want to give back? Seeking a close-knit team that lifts each other up? Want to work on your personal wellness goals with others? Keep each other accountable?

Support Health Out Loud’s immediate first response and three-part plan for COVID-19 relief efforts that provide essential mental health supports, which includes:

  • Planning, implementing, and evaluating a new virtual adaptation of WE WRAP, an evidence-based peer support program. This includes a virtual participatory resource map and a system to deliver materials, as well as equipment.
  • Delivering basic essentials to our clients to meet any unmet urgent immediate needs.
  • Creating, implementing, and evaluating a novel mini version of WE WRAP that highlights key urgent needs. The shorter version increases the number of sessions we can run, maximizing the number of clients we can reach.

There are opportunities to get involved in the full community development cycle. To advance health equity and drive systems-level change within an anti-oppression framework, the program facilitator tasks will include:

  • assess community needs;
  • use their lived experiences as an example of recovery and platform for hope;
  • program plan and facilitate culturally relevant group health promotion programs; and
  • evaluate and disseminate our work through research, policy development, as well as community engagement.

We are hiring 3-4 full-time or part-time volunteers to join our team. These opportunities also qualify for practicum requirements for several programs, including Bachelor of Public Health, Masters of Public Health, Master of Social Work, Masters of Health Evaluation, Masters of Health Informatics, and other related programs.

As part of our grassroots registered charity, help us make a difference for the people we serve, including youth facing barriers who are struggling with mental health (low socioeconomic status, racialized, new to Canada, women and girls, 2SLGBTQ2IA, Indigenous, physical and/or intellectual disability), frontline health care workers, COVID-19 patients and their families, youth in care, as well as patients recovering from addiction and severe mental illness, and others.

Due to the current COVID-19 situation, this position will be completed remotely.
