PMV is an organization of experienced project managers that help non-profit organizations transform their initiatives into successful projects for their community. We do this by supporting our clients with project definition, connecting with the volunteer project management community, and providing oversight for of project through to successful conclusion.
Since 2010, we have partnered with our not-for-profit sector clients on 250+ different projects.
In the opportunity below, PMV has partnered with the ME|FM Society.




Organization Mission

The ME|FM Society works to support ME * (including the predicted 10-30% of Long Covid cases that meet the diagnostic criteria of ME), and/or FM * patients in British Columbia to improve their health and quality of life by providing information about these illnesses, and guidance on how to seek and obtain support, appropriate medical help and treatments.

They also focus on informing and educating health care professionals, educators, students and the larger community about ME and FM.  Additionally, they raise awareness among, and seek the support of, government and the general public.

Project Summary

Based on the recently completed Strategic Plan, the ME|FM Society of BC is getting ready to initiate a two-year      campaign, “Sounds like M.E.”. This will be an education and awareness campaign, targeted at the ME|FM Community, the healthcare providers and the general public.

This project, Phase 1, will address the planning and preparations for the Sounds Like M.E. campaign, as well as staffing the team for executing the campaign. These main activities of Phase 1 will be performed in parallel. The available staffing will dictate the scope and timeline for the campaign and the plan will determine the staffing’s required skills, experience and available effort.

The scope for Phase 1 includes completing the Campaign Plan and get it approved, and recruiting the key staff for preparing and executing the campaign. It is desirable that as staff becomes available, selected tasks for the campaign will be initiated. It is highly desirable to have the generation of a Branding Guidelines included in the scope for Phase 1. The feasibility of this will depend on finding the person with the required experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Project management experience at the intermediate or senior level
  • Excellent planning skills, including high level and detailed planning
  • Experience in recruiting and forming a project team
  • Familiarity with preparing and executing an education and/or awareness campaigns would be an asset
  • Demonstrated experience in generating Branding Guidelines would be an asset
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal

Estimated Time Commitment

Around 15-20 hours per month


Start Date: First week January 2023                                                         End Date: March or April 2023 *    

*      The duration of Phase 1 will be determined at the beginning of the project by the volunteer project manager, in consultation with the client.


Scope of Work

The volunteer Project Manager will lead the volunteers’ team of the ME|FM Society in planning and preparing for the Sounds like ME campaign. The priority and sequence of campaign tasks (to be performed in following phases) will be decided in conjunction with the client, and based on this the required skills/positions identified. In parallel with the planning work, the team will work at recruiting for the identified positions. If a branding experienced person can be found, the scope will include the generation of branding guidelines for the campaign.

The PM volunteer will have end-end accountability on project deliverables, reporting to Barb Ruscheinski, Co-Chair, Director of Human Resources.    



The ME|FM Society of BC will provide a letter ofrecommendation to the PM volunteer at the successful conclusion of the project, and serve as a reference if appropriate.


NOTE We may consider a team approach of a senior/junior project manager. We encourage junior project managers who are interested in acquiring experience to apply. Any such arrangement will be contingent on agreement by the client and the applicants.
