VOLUNTEER NON-PROFIT BOARD OF DIRECTORS SEEKING CANDIDATES
Invitation for Applications
The British Columbia Public Interest Advocacy Centre (BCPIAC) is a not-for-profit society providing legal representation to under-represented individuals and groups on systemic issues, specifically those concerning the provision of essential services. We are located in Vancouver in the unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and Sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. BCPIAC’s vision is to promote equality, fairness and social inclusion. Our current focus is the empowerment of British Columbians through access to safe, affordable and clean utility services. Specifically, we advocate on behalf of residential ratepayers before the BC Utilities Commission, the tribunal responsible for the regulation of the province’s public utilities.
BCPIAC is seeking candidates for its board of directors to be elected at the AGM in September 2023.
As always, we are seeking individuals with experience in non-profit board governance and an understanding of the regulatory/policy environment in British Columbia. The board also wishes reflect the demographic and regional diversity of the province in its composition and therefore encourages applications from individuals who identify as members of vulnerable sectors of our society as well those who live in regions outside of Vancouver. This year, we are looking especially for individuals from northern or rural B.C, as well as those with experience in major organizational fundraising.
